We strive to inspire and empower people living with Parkinson's to thrive through tailored programs, innovative research and raising the voice of Canadians impacted by Parkinson's through our advocacy efforts.If you want to make a positive impact on the lives of Canadians impacted by Parkinson's, work with passionate, dedicated people where diversity and inclusion is celebrated and partner with great organizations that have the same goal then we look forward to meeting you!Job Overview: In this role, the Special Events Coordinator intern will be reporting to the Events Manager, the Events Intern will support the Events team in planning and executing SuperWalk and Pedaling for Parkinson's events.The Special Events Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating and successfully delivering Parkinson Canada strategic fundraising events including primary responsibility for Parkinson Canada SuperWalk and Pedaling for Parkinson's, and supporting the delivery of other key strategic fundraising events and activities throughout Canada. Building strong relationships with donors, event participants, volunteers, sponsors, and colleagues will be critical to the success of the incumbent in this role.Qualifications:Fundraising experience, with a proven track record in event management.Experience in volunteer management is required.Familiarity with key event management concepts (maintenance of critical path, etc.).Demonstrated understanding of sponsorship.Demonstrated leadership, organizational, budgetary and presentation skills.Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.Excellent research, analytical and written skills.Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite, Online Event Fundraising Software).Demonstrated ability to be flexible.Client driven with a proven ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.Ability to travel within Canada.Bilingual (French/English) is an asset.Key Responsibilities: With support from Parkinson Canada's events team, implement key strategies to be focused on throughout each year for Parkinson Canada SuperWalk and Pedaling for Parkinson's to grow.Support volunteers and committees as required (supported by Events Team);Participate in Monthly Parkinson Canada SuperWalk and Pedaling for Parkinson's conference calls and other development opportunities.Support all planning and logistical concerns for events as needed, in accordance with supplied event character, criteria and critical path.Prepare and develop all requisite walk promotional and logistical materials with support from Parkinson Canada's events team.Work with other staff to ensure efficient and timely distribution of said materials and update event information on website as required.Develop and distribute promotional materials as required.Support the development of traditional and social media content.Anticipated start date: July 5, 2024Parkinson Canada has implemented a mandatory vaccination requirement for all its employees.
