NLCC is a Mennonite Brethren church in Langley, BC whose mission is "Connecting people to the life-changing power of Jesus Christ, to love God and love others." We live out this mission with one vision: to be "a people apprenticed to the life of Jesus." ("Apprentice" is our synonym for disciple or "resident student" of Jesus).

When Jesus and the apostles wanted to train up leaders for the mission of the church, they called out disciples for a season of "along-side" mentoring and equipping. NLCC believes that God has called us to that same work, preparing men and women to bemature in their walk with Christandequipped to serveas church planters, pastors and leaders in emerging and existing local churches in our BCMB movement. The Ministry Intern and Ministry Associate Program is designed to do that!

We invite women and men to apply who exhibit alifestyle of discipleshipto Jesus Christ,leadership gifting in a ministry context(especially the church), and a possible or emergingcall to vocational Christian ministrythat has been affirmed by others around them. NLCC is an egalitarian church, meaning we are supportive of gifted women of godly character following God's call and serving alongside men in any leadership role in the church.

This program is designed to provide immersive ministry experiences, Christ-centered community and personal mentoring, alongside theological and pastoral instruction, that reflect NLCC's four Core Values: On Our Knees, Living the Gospel, With Shared Lives, Through Generous Love.

Up To Three Years of Experience and Education:The heart of this program is an 36-week, paid, one-year, part-time commitment that includes the following option, applicable to Regent students:

Graduate Ministry Associate: Serve on the NLCC staff in an area of ministry interest, 25 hr/week, while completing graduate studies at Regent College, with tuition assistance for four graduate courses. Renewable for up to three years.

After a successful first year, if a Ministry Associate decides to continue studies toward an applicable seminary degree at Regent College, he or she may be invited to continue at NLCC for up to two additional 36-week terms, concurrent with studies. NLCC also applies for government summer internship funding every year, and is often able to provide summer employment for Ministry Associates who are planning to continue in the following year.

Who Should Apply:The ideal candidates are Christian men and women between 22-35 years old who…

are baptized or willing to be baptized.

have demonstrated at least 3 years of active, volunteer ministry.

At least 1 year of volunteer leadership experience in a local church or other Christian ministry is preferred.

are affirmed by ministry leaders in their context as an active disciple of Jesus Christ and an emerging ministry leader.

Ideal Graduate Ministry Associate applicants have completed an undergraduate degree that qualifies them for enrolment in graduate theological studies at Regent College.

Priority consideration will be given to emerging leaders from NLCC or other BCMB churches who are wanting to pursue vocational ministry in BCMB churches.

Dates:September 3, 2024 - May 11, 2025 (possibily extending to 2027).

Hours: 20-25 hours (approximately 18-20 office hours, 3-4 days/week; 5-7 hours evening/Sunday ministry), as arranged with supervisor. For Ministry Associates, academic hours (class time and homework) are not considered paid time, but work schedules are flexible to accommodate academic requirements.

Responsibilities: Determined on basis of Ministry Intern's or Ministry Associate's previous experience and skills. May include event planning, course facilitation, small group leadership, mentoring, speaking, leading worship, for children, youth, young adults, various stages of adulthood, or seniors.
