The Opportunity:

WSP is currently seeking a Principal MECHANICAL Engineer to join our Mechanical and Electrical Healthcare department, located at our Thornhill office. This position will be responsible for and actively involved in winning and delivering M&E projects in the GTA and Western Ontario.  The Principal Engineer maintains WSP position as a leading services provider through promoting the vision of the company, participating in industry related activities and maintaining and developing the local client base. The successful candidate is recognized as a motivating leader with a proven ability to mentor management team members, have a genuine commitment to the firm`s values, and manage client relationships. While the Principal Engineer does not have direct reports, the position entails involvement in the day-to-day operations of the group in all aspects, in various capacities, technical, financial and administrative.

What you can expect to do here:

Overall involvement in the technical and non-technical aspects of the regional mechanical and electrical Healthcare practice.

Responsible to develop and articulate the M&E, healthcare strategic objectives to achieve expected results to align with the scope of the business strategy to the market vision 

Intimate knowledge of and involvement in most of the projects in the Healthcare group.

In collaboration with the national Healthcare Business Development team, lead and manage business development and proposal writing efforts of the local team, ensure they are in sync with national efforts and strategies and adhere to national standards;

Foster and maintain strong client relationships, managing their expectations where required;

Provide Support and guidance all staff in all aspects of project delivery: Technical, Financial Administrative Client communication

Lead, manage and grow the healthcare technical experts and lead initiatives to ensure continued employee engagement;;

Maintain a high degree of personal involvement with major clients & coordinate business development efforts by meeting with clients to proactively understand evolving client needs, local and industry trends, and upcoming project opportunities.

Help build and maintain WSP`s brand and reputation internally and externally. Includes developing and communicating a consistent message. Provide a presence and ensure we are visibly active in the local business community;

What you'll bring to WSP:

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering;

Minimum of fifteen (15) years in engineering consulting, delivering technical and complex projects.

A proven track record of experience in interfacing with government agencies, and the private sector within Southwestern Ontario;

Demonstrated ability to address challenging situations in in the market;

Highly professional with strong written and oral communication skills;

Financial management capabilities.

A track record of promoting a strong corporate culture which encourages teamwork, problem solving and high performance.
