Position Summary: The Senior VAT Analyst will support the International tax team on all aspects of indirect tax reporting and compliance functions of this growing biopharmaceutical company. The position’s responsibilities include ensuring accurate and timely reporting of worldwide indirect tax compliance, supporting business functions on VAT related queries, and maintaining internal control and reconciliation of VAT accounts. Responsibilities:

  • Manage the preparation of complex / high volume VAT declarations from beginning to end, including data collection, data analysis and validation.
  • Provide comments and suggestions on process / system efficiencies that could be adopted to improve the processes in the VAT compliance of the company globally.
  • Involvement and initiation of projects on above process and system updates to include working with other stakeholders across the business such as IT, AR and AP teams.
  • Ensure that VAT general ledger accounts are correct and reconciled with the other relevant data, such as VAT declarations, P&L, and intrastat filings.
  • Complete all VAT related accounting activities upon which VAT returns depend, including control checks of transaction data and review of supporting tax documentation to identify any errors or anomalies.
  • Perform VAT GL accounts reconciliation on a timely basis.
  • Build technical knowledge of VAT legislation changes and updates globally that may impact the business.
  • Assist in responding to day-to- day queries and provide practical VAT support for business units, particularly queries relating to import VAT.
  • Maintain VAT risk analytics, policies, processes & systems ensuring compliance with EU regulations.
  • Analyze and support the implementation of changes to VAT legislation and work with IT to ensure VAT rates in Oracle is updated.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects to review selected business activities and processes to manage VAT risks.
Required Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. ATT/CTA preferred. Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of VAT tax experience working for or with larger complex companies. Public accounting experience is preferred. Candidates should be highly skilled in data analysis and proficient in using Microsoft Excel. Experience with Alteryx or other data analytical tools is preferred. Candidate must possess a demonstrated capability to prepare and present oral and written communications in a well-organized and compelling manner to senior management. Able to manage and supervise multiple tasks and organizations and be able to adapt quickly to changing business and strategic priorities. Collaborative and interactive in style and action; this position is expected to conduct outreach with various business units to meet reporting/compliance objectives. Highly organized and detail oriented. Results-oriented with a strong work ethic. Have high personal values and ethical standards.
