Job Description

  • Lead the design and planning of irrigation systems for agricultural or landscaping projects.
  • Conduct site evaluations and assess water requirements for crop or plant species.
  • Design irrigation networks, including pipelines, pumps, valves, and control systems.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, water conservation practices, and environmental standards.
  • Develop project plans, including resource allocation and work schedules.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and suppliers to achieve project objectives.
  • Oversee the installation of irrigation systems, including pipelines, sprinklers, and drip systems.
  • Develop maintenance schedules and procedures for the regular upkeep of irrigation systems.
  • Conduct inspections and troubleshooting to detect and resolve system malfunctions.
  • Assess water availability and develop strategies for efficient water use.
  • Implement water conservation practices and irrigation scheduling techniques.
  • Evaluate and recommend water storage and distribution infrastructure.
  • Implement measures to enhance irrigation efficiency and minimize water loss.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements for irrigation system performance.
  • Utilize technologies and tools for monitoring and controlling irrigation operations.
  • Analyze data on soil moisture, weather patterns, and crop water requirements to optimize irrigation schedules.
  • Lead and supervise a team of irrigation technicians and operators.
  • Identify and procure necessary irrigation equipment, tools, and supplies.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in irrigation engineering or a related role.
  • Strong knowledge of irrigation system design principles, hydraulic calculations, and equipment selection.
  • Proficiency in irrigation software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, EPANET, irrigation scheduling software).
  • Experience in project management, including planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
