Programme Director, Programme Management & Integration About the mahi Te Ara Tahi is a shared journey of transformation across Te Rua Mahara o te Kāwanatanga Archives New Zealand, Te Puna Mātauranga o Aotearoa National Library of New Zealand and Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision. It’s about the institutions working more closely together, sharing expertise and resources to better meet the changing needs and expectations of New Zealanders. The Te Ara Tahi Programme is a significant change programme delivering multiple workstreams to support the institutions to transform the way they work including operationalising and transitioning into a new Heritage Campus. As Programme Director, Programme Management & Integration you will lead the integration of the workstreams that make up the Heritage Campus delivery and transition and oversee Te Ara Tahi Programme Office functions. You will be accountable for the successful integration of Heritage Campus deliverables and will work with Te Ara Tahi Programme Directors to ensure all focus areas align in the period leading to the successful handover of the new heritage campus. The Programme Director will ensure the effective functioning of the Programme Office to enable the efficient and effective delivery of programme activities.  You’ll directly contribute to the success of the programme by providing thought leadership and oversight across benefits and quality management, programme planning, governance and reporting including milestone management, integration, and risk and issue management.  Essential to delivering these responsibilities will be your in-depth understanding and experience in programme delivery and programme management. Day to day you’ll be responsibility for management and delivery of programme governance and reporting requirements, while supporting the General Manager Te Ara Tahi to deliver these same requirements to Department Executive Leaders, the Branch Leadership Team, Central Agencies, and the Ministers Office as appropriate.  In this role you will be a key member of the programme management team, collectively responsible for the successful delivery of the Te Ara Tahi Programme. About You You’ll have a combination of experience, knowledge and attributes that contribute to your effectiveness in overseeing and leading programme integration and programme management office in a large complex programme of work.

  • You’ll have extensive experience working on large scale programme delivery leading a successful programme management office effective in delivering outcomes efficiently and effectively. 
  • You’ll have an ability to inspire and motivate a team toward common goals, strong decision-making skills, especially under pressure. 
  • You’ll have an advanced understanding of governance structures and reporting frameworks.
  • You’ll have clear and effective communication, a skill in conveying complex information and be an active listener to understand stakeholders needs and concerns. 
  • You’ll be a forward-thinker anticipating challenges and plan for contingencies, with an understanding of how the programme contributes to broader department goals. 
  • You’ll have exceptional interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, and an ability to manage and balance diverse stakeholder interests and expectations. 
  • You’ll have a good understanding of quality assurance and risk management principles, working with key stakeholders and the programme team to proactively identify, assess and mitigate risks. 
  • You’ll be results oriented focused on delivering and achieving programme objectives, with an ability to track and measure progress against milestones. 
  • You’ll be familiar with relevant tools and technologies for programme management and have an intimate understanding of industry best practices and standards.
