We are seeking a technically strong Waste Management Project Director who wants to play an active role in growing our waste management team to leverage GHD's significant experience in new and innovative technologies in waste management.ResponsibilitiesEstablishing long-lasting client relationships with municipal and private clients and prospectsWorking with the Regional Business Development Manager to build the business in the NorthwestLead proposals for new projectsLead waste management projects on time and budget for municipal and private clients requiring permitting, operations support, detailed design, construction management and inspection, and environmental studiesLead GHD's waste management projects including planning and design of composting facilities, anaerobic digestion facilities, landfills, transfer stations, composting facilities, material recovery facilities, transfer stations, renewable natural gas projects, and waste to energy projectsWork with GHD's waste management planning team to undertake the technical components of master plansOwn the preparation of technical reports and complete peer reviews of designs completed by others in the Waste Management groupEffectively communicate and connect with existing and prospective clientsComplete regulatory conformance reviewsProject management of studies and designs to support permitting applicationsUndertake liaison activities with regulatorsProvide mentorship and leadership to intermediate and junior technical staff across our offices in Western CanadaProvide internal leadership in the growth and direction of the North American Waste Management TeamQualifications15+ years of experience in the solid waste industryMinimum of 5 years' experience in a consulting role10 years' experience in a business development roleEngineer, scientist, or plannerValid class 5 driver's license with a driving record in good standingWillingness and ability for overnight travel and to conduct field workProficiency in MS Office, Word, Excel, Project, PowerPointExcellent verbal and written communications skills and ability to work in a highly-skilled and diversified project teamAs a diverse and inclusive organization, we encourage individual achievement and recognize the strength of a diverse workforce.
