Our client, an Energy company, is seeking a Project Engineer (Carbon Capture) with management experience to work a long-term contract in Calgary, AB. Key Activities and ResponsibilitiesCompletion of assigned work or projects within the budgets, schedules and project drivers in an efficient, but safe, environmentally conscious and respectful manner.Accountable for scope definition during project phases, as well as control of scope during execution. The PE shall preserve and defend the project business case. Accountable for ensuring the development of integrated, and resource-loaded when warranted, project schedules across all phases. Establish sound philosophies, strategies and plans during early project phases to minimize / eliminate the need for change during the execution and construction phases. Responsible to develop execution, procurement, fabrication/modularization and contracting plans complete with inspection and logistics/handling/storage planning to ensure contractor and project success.The PE has a key requirement to vet and control any proposed changes to scope. The Project Engineer "owns" the scopes, budgets, schedules and targets assigned.Develop strategies to execute within approved budgets or minimize scope growth when it is evident that growth is required. Monitor, review and approve technical deliverable requirements, production, and changes to reduce cost overruns and schedule in conjunction with the project leadership such that only necessary changes are made. This includes all technical requirements and deliverables, facilitating and engaging in reviews.Facilitate timely involvement of key end-users, customers, and stakeholders thereby mitigating cost and schedule impacts due to preventable late changes. Responsible for maintaining interface coordination between other projects, EPs, and suppliers who have parallel scope on the footprint and are managed by a separate team.Manage all interfaces touching the EP Contractor scope, making decisions regarding scope, schedule, and cost. Ensuring effective communication and coordination between all disciplines and project participants including all stakeholdersEngagement regulatory bodies will be required on an as-needed basis. Supporting the commissioning and hand-over of projects from Project Development to Operations Education, Skills And ExperienceMinimum 10 years of project experience, with some combination of Owner and EP experience and some form of direct construction and/or fabrication experience.Proficient with project planning and execution activities and responsibilities, including project controls/change management, supply chain, regulatory, contracting, inspection and commissioning/start-up. Gas and liquids facilities experience required; pipeline and well/drilling experience desired. Driven, proactive individual with a strong sense of initiative and interpersonal skills.P.Eng.
