HV Electrician Distribution Technician (Airfield Lighting Technician) Job Summary:   As the Electrical Distribution Technician (Airfield Lighting Technician) assigned to Al Udeid Airforce Base in Qatar, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective operation of airfield lighting operation, maintenance and repairs and enhance U.S. Military capabilities on the airfield. This position requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and unwavering commitment to safety. You will be responsible to operate, maintain, and repair all airfield lighting (High Voltage/ HV) 5kV and the highest input kV lines in specified locations on base. The qualified candidate will operate, maintain, and repair airfield lighting on all runways, obstruction lighting, taxiways, aircraft ramps, and area lighting. Airfield Lighting components include airfield lighting vaults, dedicated supporting backup generators, fuel tanks, and Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS). Will operate, maintain, and repair the four (-4-) approach systems with each on individual dedicated circuits; two runways' circuits; and 16-24 taxiway circuits, and the Precision approach path indicators on all 4 approaches, and maintain all 4-runway threshold light circuits. Responsibilities: Leadership and Management: Responsible to manage resources and activities devoted to installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical power generating and control systems.Maintain strict compliance to to all applicable PWS requirements, host nation laws, and compliance to all U.S Department of Defense and U.S. Department of State requirements, as applicable. Technical Expertise: Must have a minimum of five (-5-) years of full-time experience in high and or medium voltage electrical systems. Must have knowledge of: Principles of electronics and electricity, including generation, conversion, transformation, distribution, and utilization; types, capacity, and purpose of high/ medium /low voltage circuits, circuit breakers, switches, fuses, regulators, relays, instruments, and meters associated with electric generation and distribution. Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure system integrity and functionality. Must maintain strict compliance to all applicable PWS contractual requirements, and contractual performance must meet or exceed all manufacturer's specifications, and/or applicable references.   Safety and Compliance: Train and educate team members on safety best practices, activity hazard analysis.Responsible to manage accumulation of Hazardous waste and material and storage of POL. Reporting and Documentation: Reporting to include required 'Outage Reports' and other ad-hoc reports as required.Must be able to maintain records; post entries on operation, inspection, and maintenance records; record meter readings, wear and alignment measurements, and other data in performance logs; furnish information for reports and recommend changes to correct defective equipment or improve operating procedures. Qualifications: Must have experience with operating and maintaining low voltage systems ranging from 24 volts to volts and electrical distribution systems from volts to 13, volts. (Must be an incumbent employee to be exempt" grandfathered in" regarding compliance with this specific experience requirement).Qualified candidates must have completed an approved DOD or commercial equivalent school or apprenticeship in the discipline of Airfield Lighting.Must be able to fluently read, write, speak and understand English and have knowledge of: Principles of electronics and electricity, including conversion, transformation, distribution, and utilization; types, capacity, and purpose of medium voltage circuits, reclosers, switches, fuses, regulators, relays, instruments, and meters associated with electrical distribution. Must be able to interpret instrument and meter readings; wiring diagrams, schematics, drawings and technical publications; techniques of operating and maintaining distribution panels, and accessory equipment; use and purpose of test equipment; safety rules and practices; environmental policies; principles of management; and operation and repair of electrical distribution systems. Education, Experience, and required credentials. Minimum of ten years' full-time experience in the Airfield Lighting field.Provide evidence of passing the International Code Council (ICC) national journeyman or master certification exam, as applicable for either Journeyman and or Master Electricians.Must have a valid passport and must be able to meet all requirements to obtain residency work visa.Must successfully pass CENTCOM medical requirements and be fit-for-duty to immediately deploy.Must have a valid driver's license in current expiration from any recognized U.S state or U.S Territory. Skills and Abilities: Must be able to complete all local requirements for Flight Line Driving Certification during the transition period and must maintain Flight Line Driving Certification during their employment period.Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with team members and stakeholders, while providing excellent customer service, and ability to multi-task operate under stressful conditions within a fast-paced environment.Excellent organizational and time management skills. Security Clearance: Secret Clearance Required. US Citizenship is required and must possess and maintain required Secret clearance eligibility for this position while employed in support of this contract. Austere Working Conditions The candidate must be able to perform in inclement weather conditions; to include heat extreme temperatures. Must be able to perform job duties in personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
