In a Nutshell: The Director, Information Technology reports to the Chief Administrative Officer and oversees the strategic direction and operational management of the County's information technology infrastructure, projects, applications, service delivery, operational improvements, and cybersecurity protections. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director provides leadership, coordination, and support to ensure the alignment of IT services with the County's goals for sustainability and service excellence. Day in the Life: Management and administration of departmental staff Building an inclusive and productive environment Creating a high-performance culture Collaboration with HR for talent acquisition and retention Oversee compliance with statutory requirements and corporate policies within the IT department. Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Information Technology department, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives. Lead the project portfolio management process for technology projects within the County Manage the application portfolios for the County, including planning, implementation, and maintenance of applications to support County operations. Ensure IT service delivery meets established agreements and standards, addressing any issues or concerns Develop and implement strategies for continuous operational improvements within the IT department, optimizing processes and workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness Coordinate the development of the annual budget for the IT department, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to support departmental goals and objectives. Monitor departmental performance, outcomes, and financial performance, making adjustments as necessary to achieve desired results Serve as a liaison with Area Municipalities, Provincial Ministries, industries, community stakeholders, Council, and the public on IT matters, providing expertise and support as needed What We Are Looking For: University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration (IT focus), or related field 10 years of demonstrated senior-level experience managing information technology resources and services within a unionized setting, with preference for those in the greater public sector Extensive experience with systems designs and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management Experience with Cyber Security concepts, tools and processes for managing a corporate Cyber Security program Proven leadership skills and knowledge of human resources practices, and ability to coach and motivate staff A clear communicator, both verbally and in writing, with an ability to translate complex technical concepts Demonstrated logical approach to research and interpretation Demonstrated skills of tact and diplomacy and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality What We Are Offering: A starting salary of $144,217 - $177,061 is just the beginning.
