Lilly is currently constructing a Next Generation Biotech Drug Substance Manufacturing Facility in Limerick, Ireland. This facility will be Lilly’s most technically advanced manufacturing site and will include next-generation manufacturing technologies and advanced data collection and analysis platforms that will deliver improvements in safety and quality, and increased productivity and process performance. Job Title:  Operations Planning Lead Responsibilities: The Operations Planning Lead will report into the Associate Director of Operations. The Operations Planning Lead is responsible for developing the detailed production plan to deliver required product quantities to meet customer demand while maintaining agreed inventory levels. The Operations Planning Lead is responsible for developing a production plan with consideration of equipment, organisational or business process constraints. Strong collaboration with the Process Teams, Functional Teams, and Supply Chain organisation is required. The Operations Planning Lead is responsible for maintaining a facility capacity planning model. Key Responsibilities: In line with the job outlined above, the following are typically the key tasks that would be expected of the role:

  • Create a Master Production Plan for all manufactured products and maintain valid production plans in SAP. Develop and lead the effective communication of the detailed day-to-day manufacturing plan to the shop floor: Dispensing, Upstream, Downstream, Media, Buffer.
  • Own the 3 month Operations schedule and lead the cross-functional teams required to develop recovery plans and / or to revise the schedule. Additionally effectively communicate changes in schedule to senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Own scheduling tools used to run and model the plants. Ensure they are robust, fit for purpose, and effective.
  • Collaborate with the site Supply Chain function to ensure that products are available for shipping to customers within agreed timelines. Escalate any manufacturing issues that may impact batch release or facility output.
  • Plan & sequence all Batch Release activities in collaboration with the relevant department / process team: Batch Record review, QCL Authorisation, Batch Specific Concurrent Validation (BSCV) reports, and Cleaning validation reports.
  • Support monthly R&OP process meetings and seek approval for schedule changes.
  • Provide clear communication of non-routine activities, such as planned project work, equipment downtime, non-routine sampling, equipment qualification, and area access restrictions.
  • Support strategic planning activities by generating credible production scenarios and evaluate the impact on product supply.
  • Provide planning support for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide Power User support for SAP Master Data changes, such as BOM’s, Recipes, and MRP planning data.
  • Responsible for the following business processes: Shop Floor Control and report key SAP metrics, such as ‘Shop Floor Conformance’, and ‘Process Orders Past Due’. Maintain a log of Anticipated Delay Requests (ADR’s) for delays to recipes phase completions
Basic Requirements: 
  • Third level qualification or equivalent education or experience. SAP proficiency would be beneficial.
Additional Skills/Preferences: The following is a list of additional preferences and additional skills. Previous experience in biotech manufacturing preferred. Previous experience in an operations or maintenance scheduling role preferred. Previous experience with automated scheduling tools preferred. Adherence to procedures.  Self-motivated and ability to work on own initiative.  Attention to detail, documentation and IT Skills.  Demonstrated aptitude for the analysis of data.  Strong sense of teamwork.  Demonstrates good planning and organisational skills, ability to work on own initiative and prioritise tasks, commitment to task completion and timelines.  Strong interpersonal & communication skills – oral and written. Additional Information: Personal Considerations - The Operation Planning Lead role operates on a standard working week.
