Job Summary • Experienced digital transformation and technology executive required to lead and implement the digital, technology and data strategy and related solutions across the Absa Internal Audit (IA) function. • Proven experience in Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science, Robotics, Cloud, ERP and data platforms utilising multiple technologies. • Perform and enhance data discovery and insights to ensure that the IA function is operationally capable of delivering the required Digital Transformation and Innovation strategic objectives in an economical, efficient and effective manner. • In-depth experience required in technology management, digital transformation and strategy development.  Job Description IA Digital Transformation Strategy:
  • Develop, manage and execute on the IA Digital Transformation strategy. This includes, amongst others, designing customer centric digital delivery and risk-based solutions, using big data and digital technologies where possible, to contribute to sustainable value creation for all stakeholders. 
  • Periodically review the plans put in place in the IA function to deliver the IA digital transformation strategy, as approved, and ensure that continued focus and delivery is maintained on the key deliverables and continuous improvement.
  • Drive and influence the transformation of the Digital, Technology and Data-Led culture and skills within the IA function.
  • Create a data-led IA function of the future with less manual controls and processes, using dashboards and analytics in day-to-day activities, and enhanced reporting through the accessibility of data and information.
  • Provide leadership and support to the IA function on digital transformation, technologies, automation and robotics assurance, using AI (including machine learning) and data-led solutions, techniques and capabilities.
  • Attend various strategic forums and key management committees to stay up to date with IA digital transformation related matters and provide early warning of any probable issues and proposed solutions.
  • Significant engagement/communication with the IA Leadership Team (LT)/Exco is required and, as such, excellent written and verbal communication, coupled with a strong attention to detail when preparing, reviewing and presenting reports, is essential in this role. 
  • Act as initial point of entry for escalated internal and external stakeholder queries. Redistribute the resolution or respond directly to the stakeholders, where appropriate.
  • Influence the practical and effective implementation and embedment of Combined Assurance across the Lines of Defence using digital, technology and data solutions.  
IA Digital Transformation Change and Programme (Book of Work) management/ 'Strategic Change':
  • Responsible for the development of the annual IA Digital Strategic Book of Work (BoW), including the interlock with key stakeholders and funding approvals.
  • Provide end-to-end execution of all prioritised approved strategic change initiatives included on the IA Digital BoW, including technology system enhancements, replacements and other projects through collaborative action of approved, optimised, limited resources.
  • Manage the development of the strategic change initiatives on the IA Digital BoW within the required Absa policies and standards.
  • Ensure that clear, concise governance processes are implemented and operating effectively for all digital-related initiatives. 
  • Ensure that benefits of IA digital transformation initiatives are appropriately recorded and sustainably realised.
  • Ensure that the necessary attention is given to problematic digital transformation projects and manage escalated issues impacting project deliverables. Review risks, issues and mitigating actions that have been put in place.
  • Ensure that the annual IA Digital BoW is delivered on time within the approved budget and scope.
  • Continuously monitor the potential impact of new tactical plans on the reputational risk of the IA Function and the organisation, and advise IA Leadership Team members on appropriate action to take to minimise the risk.
IA Digital Transformation Business-as-Usual (BAU)/ 'Run-the-Bank':
  • Ensure transition of digital transformation strategic projects to BAU, with a focus on continued delivery post closure of strategic projects.
  • Establish and embed the IA digital, technology and data ecosystems for automated, continuous assurance and monitoring.
  • Facilitate knowledge and information sharing across the business and stakeholders. This includes educating the IA function in order to becoming more digitally and data led.
  • End-to-end responsibility for IA’s data management framework, processes and controls, including the data governance processes and capabilities for the IA function, ensuring conformance with the Group’s policies and standards.
  • Ensure that benefits from digital assets (e.g. bots, etc) developed using Strategic Investment (SI) funding are realised in accordance with IA balanced scorecard targets.
  • Effective ownership and management of the IA function’s audit software management solution, AuditBond/ HighBond, ensuring stability on the environment and effective training/utilisation of available features and functionality.
IA Digital Transformation Centre of Excellence (CoE)
  • Lead and manage the IA Digital transformation team, as well as the IA Digital Transformation CoE, to ensure smooth operations and that the necessary resources are available, have the necessary capacity and capability and operating effectively.
  • Proactively attract, recruit, develop, retain, recognise and deploy a diverse resource base aligned to an ever evolving environment. This includes developing digital assurance capabilities in all IA portfolios.
  • Build a high performance team environment through self-directed teams by driving performance management and measurement that is aligned with approved IA working practices (including regular and honest feedback etc.)
  • Carry the ‘one stop shop’ accountability for all risk associated with technical decision making (from ideation to deployment).
  • Manage and apply the organisation's risk and governance frameworks, policies and standards across the IA function, as it relates to digital, technology and data.
  • Manage all vendor selection processes and take full accountability for all related commercial impact.
  • Agree and manage service offerings and Service Level Agreements with internal stakeholders and external service providers.
  • Review and/or approve proposals, quotes, invoices etc. aligned with the IA digital transformation BoW and BAU approved initiatives and provide recommendations for approval in line with the Absa policies, standards and process.
  • Negotiate best fit contracts for the organisation at an enterprise level and align decision making to our key business principles of scalability, resilience, captivity etc.
  • Deliver all projects and initiatives on time and within budget.
Role/ Person specification Education and Experience Required:
  • BComm or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Data Science or Data Analytics
  • Relevant post graduate degree or equivalent
  • 7-10 years’ experience in the Banking sector
  • At least 5 years’ management experience in Internal Audit (senior Internal Audit experience is critical to succeed in the role).
  • Experience in design and implementation of digital assurance initiatives.
  • Experience in effective design and embedment of continuous auditing solutions.
  • Experience in Agile Internal Auditing and IA Quality Assurance is preferred.
