The Central Maintenance team are searching for a Chief Fire Officer to join our business located in Richards Bay, KZN.Reporting to the Technical & Risk Manager, the Chief Fire Officer is required to plan, organize, manage and implement fire prevention measures, take command of fire and emergency situations. The successful incumbent will need to take responsibility for the overall contractual management of the fire operations, emergency medical and fire maintenance vendors via the senior officers who reports to him/her.Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe Chief Fire Officer is responsible for the planning and management of the following inter alia activities:Respond to and Manage Fire, Hazmat and medical incidents/emergencies on the site, deploying internal and external resources where required.Fixed and portable fire equipment inspections/maintenance including risk mitigationFire investigationsHigh fire risk maintenance work mitigationsOperational and maintenance expenses related to the emergency teamJob Observations/ Behavioural based audits/engagement board sessionsPlanning of actions derived from drills/audits/incidentsReview and continuously improve existing emergency procedures and policiesReview and update emergency training requirements for the mill and department as requiredLegal compliance of emergency equipmentPlan emergency response drills and training exercisesEmergency equipment licenses and certificationsCapital equipment replacements and upgrades related to the emergency team as well as fixed fire systems within the millEngagements with local authorities and industries for cross training/drillsAccountable for the readiness of the emergency response teamAccountable for the readiness of emergency response equipment and installationsAccountable for emergency response/readiness engagements with local authorities and neighbouring communitiesAccountable for the implementation of fire prevention strategies inter alia including hot work control.Desired Experience & QualificationQualifications & ExpertiseNational diploma in Fire Engineering or related fieldIntermediate Life Support Paramedic (advantageous)Basic life support paramedic (minimum)Supervisory or Management QualificationRegistered with the HPCSA- BLS ParamedicC1 Drivers LicenseProfessional Driving PermitFire Prevention and Safety StrategiesIncident CommanderSnake identification/bite treatment and snake handlingAdvanced Industrial Fire FightingComputerized maintenance management system such as SAPFixed fire detection/suppression system testing/inspection/maintenance regimesMS Office including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, OutlookFamiliarity with ISO 14001 and 45001 advantageousJob Experience10 Years experience in industrial / Municipal Fire Services in a supervisory/management experience capacity5 Years experience performing an emergency response function - firefighter/paramedic Manufacturing Public Services These jobs were popular with other job seekers
