About the Auckland System Management (ASM) Alliance The ASM is an alliance between HEB Construction, Fulton Hogan, and Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency to operate and maintain Auckland's motorway network. The Alliance is expected to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders as well as suppliers to deliver exceptional outcomes for customers using the Auckland transport system. Estimated project dates are from July 2019 to June 2028. That is where you come in: This is an excellent opportunity for a high performing Area Engineer to deliver professional engineering services within the Auckland System Management Maintenance Alliance. Your role will include provision of initiative-taking and reactive management of Traffic Response & incidents in a rostered Duty Engineer capacity and in conjunction with an incident management team. This is a fast moving and varied role, so you must be able to think quickly on your feet and be able to effectively resolve and respond to unique issues in a prompt manner. About You: Our ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, experience, and skills:
- Tertiary qualification with NZCE or Bachelor of Engineering
- 5+ years relevant experience in road network operations and maintenance
- Experience in road incident management and recovery operations.
- STMS L 2/3 NP (Or Cat A, B, C NP equivalent).
- Customer Driven - Clearly understands the internal and external customer and is dedicated to meeting their expectations and requirements.
- Leads Change- Embraces the opportunities represented in change and champions positive change related behaviours in others.
- Accountability - Faces up to problem situations quickly and directly and does not hold back when action needs to be taken.
- Full NZ Drivers Licence.
- Conducting routine network and safety day/night inspections and audits
- Identifying and prioritising planned and reactive maintenance and operations on the network.
- Tracking system performance and network condition to ensure the best level of reliability and safety to the customer.
- Responding to customer queries relating to the road network
- Providing guidance for investigating any issues on the network to identify the appropriate solutions.
- Network improvements or alterations - guidance and liaison through safety in design, construction and whole of life in maintenance.
- Management of road incidents (vehicle crashes, material spills, asset damage, natural hazards), to ensure safe and efficient restoration of normal traffic operations. This includes being rostered on as a Duty Engineer for a week at a time (24/7 on call capacity) for approximately 1 in 7 weeks / through the year.
- Maintain network readiness and preparedness in the event of an incident.
- Attending Level 3 and above road incidents, or as directed by ATOC.
- Investigating crash factors, produce fatal and serious injury crash reports.
- Ensuring compliance with legal requirements, roading and safety codes, and other regulations
- Taking responsibility for own health and safety and ensure that your actions keep yourself and others safe.
- Ensuring all work is implemented in such a way that risks are identified early, and appropriate mitigations are in place.
