Gartner analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have research, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. Gartner is recruiting for a Senior Director Analyst candidate with extensive experience as a Technology executive/leader (CDO, CTO, CTIO, CIO on group level or in a large-scale HQ) in a telecommunications company (or as a consultant with a broad experience of business and technology strategy projects hands-on delivery). We are looking for candidates who can deliver practical, objective, actionable insight and telco industry best practices to senior business and technology executives in Telco companies, on topics related to IT/OT transformation (both technology and processes, culture, talent, leadership, KPIs), CTIO role excellence, operating and business model transformation, platform business and architecture, sourcing and procurement and ecosystem excellence, cost management and efficiencies, and other topics related to execution of telco company transformation. The Communication Technologies team is a global team covering Telco industry scenarios, transformation of operating models, various OT and IT related technology strategy and execution. We support various types of telco industry players (including vendors and service providers). Analysts help CIOs, IT Executive Leaders Business and Product leaders with a wide variety of topics from emerging technologies to strategy to vertical specific software solutions. Who you are:

  • We are looking for a Senior Director, Analyst with extensive experience in the following areas:
  • Telecom companies IT, OT (Operational Technologies) and Digital transformation strategies execution and efficiencies
  • Platform business and ecosystem-friendly technology strategies
  • Research should support CSPs technology strategists (CIOs, CDOs, CTOs, I&O leaders), CSP product leaders, and Technology and service providers selling to CSPs
Telecom CIO/CIO/CTIO/CDO/BU Leader role priorities in:
  • governance and operations (both planning and execution of operating models)
  • people and talent mgmt. and transformation
  • communication with business stakeholder
  • budgeting and investment strategies, optimization and scale
  • digital business enablement efficiencies and KPIs
What you will do:
  • Develop, contextualize, and deliver insightful and actionable research content primarily for CIOs and other executives in telecommunications companies on a variety of topics, including digital and IT strategy, sector-specific IT solutions, and emerging technologies.
  • Drive compelling interactions via inquiries, remote and in-person briefings, and conferences on a variety of IT topics aligned with your areas of coverage, primarily targeting CIOs and other government executives and IT and business leaders.
  • Advise industry providers of technologies and services of interest to telecommunications companies.
  • Conduct research by reading, networking with clients, vendors and analysts, evaluating and analyzing information and participating in research meetings and other activities which comprise the Gartner research process.
  • Provide exceptional sales and service delivery support by engaging with prospective and existing clients virtually or face-to face and by delivering impactful insight based on client needs.
  • Become a regular commentator to primary international media about technology trends that are of interest to telco executives in the specific sectors.
What you will need:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Graduate degree preferred
  • 12+ years of relevant field or industry experience
  • Experience working as a Chief Information Officer or an information technology leader in one or several telco organizations (CIO, CDO, CTO, CTIO on group level or in a large-scale HQ) in a telecommunications company (or as a consultant with a broad business or technology strategy projects hands-on delivery experience).
  • Demonstrate executive presence; can immediately establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholders
  • Demonstrate excellence in research and writing ability
  • Strong written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions
  • Proficient in analyzing and synthesizing data; can effectively apply patterns and frameworks while drawing and defending conclusions to client challenges.
  • Strong communicator who is able to explain complex concepts concisely and simply.
  • Subject matter expert comfortable presenting at large and small-scale speaking engagements
  • Ability to represent Gartner's research methodology and strategies effectively at all levels.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% (where applicable).
