These jobs were popular with other job seekersSENIOR VETERINARY NURSE: OVAH THEATREPEROMNES POST LEVEL 9RESPONSIBILITIESThe incumbent will be responsible for:Preparing and assisting with small, large animals and wildlife surgical procedures;Theatre management and practice with emphasis on proper knowledge of surgical procedures, correct handling and care of instruments, theatre hygiene, maintenance of equipment, stock control, orders (pharmaceuticals, medical, prostheses and implants and cleaning and biosecurity products);Patient care (pre-, intra- and postoperative);Assist with continuous informal training of students and student nurses;After hour emergency services on a rotational basis;Performing relief duties in other sections in the OVAH;Performing shift duties when required.No application will be considered after the closing date, or if it does not comply with at least the minimum requirementsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTSMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Diploma in Veterinary Nursing (DipCurAnim or Dip Vet Nursing); or BVetNurse; or equivalentRegistered as veterinary nurse with the South African Veterinary Council;Two years' experience in veterinary nursing and general clinic management of which at least one year is in theatre practiceREQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):Ability to work under high pressure and without supervision:Ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously;Organizing abilities and a strong service orientation;Accuracy and attention to detail;Physical mobility;Interpersonal skills;Ability to handle conflict;Ability to work weekends and outside normal working hours when required for continuous service delivery in the hospital.SALARY DETAILSThe annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent's level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines.
