Reports to Azure and Data Operations Manager

The Aztec Group have a requirement for a Technical Specialist focused on the Microsoft Cloud suite of products, including Azure AD, MS SQL and Azure, with comprehensive experience in the design and delivery of complex enterprise solutions built around the Microsoft technology stack. The role will involve working closely with both in house specialists together with external consultants, partners, and the business. You should be able to clearly demonstrate good technical, analytical, organisational and communication skills together with a proven track record in cloud and database technologies.

Key responsibilities:

  • Monitor, document and maintain effective system configurations.
  • Prepare system specifications for new service deployments.
  • Management and implementation of system deployments and upgrades.
  • Implement changes using the appropriate change-control process across the IT infrastructure.
  • Monitor support incidents and work with support staff to provide effective prioritisation and resolution.
  • Ensure technologies are deployed in compliance with Aztec Security framework and standards.
  • Build strong working relationships with all stakeholders including Aztec’s suppliers, application support teams and the business.
  • Own and manage day to day issues and see through to completion. Escalate in a timely manner to senior members of the team where required.
  • Be a creative thinker and look for new ways the business can leverage the technologies available to improve efficiencies and capabilities.
  • Prepare and maintain procedure documentation relating to the overall environment.
  • Ongoing professional development including the attaining of professional qualifications as agreed with the Azure and Data Operations Manager.
  • Support of the Aztec Azure and Database environment
  • Manage and implement changes to in house applications & database objects when required.
  • Maintain existing database systems with a view to sustaining performance and availability.
Skills, knowledge, expertise:
  • Experience in Azure Active Directory (AAD), Active Directory (AD), Directory Services (Hybrid Identity)
  • Understanding of Azure Security Services (Azure Advanced Threat Protection, Azure information Protection, Azure Security Center, Azure Log Analytics Microsoft Cloud Application Security)
  • Understanding of Azure with a working knowledge in at least one of the following range of services - PaaS SQL, IAAS, Data Factory, Databricks, Azure networking, Azure Monitor Logic Apps, App Gateway, Azure Backup etc
  • Knowledge or experience as a Database administrator using Microsoft SQL Server
  • Knowledge in troubleshooting and resolving database problems
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server
  • Experience in implementing operational automation using SQL and PowerShell scripts
  • Good understanding of network concepts such as TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, VOIP and VPN
  • At least 2 years’ experience working within an IT environment
  • Experience working in financial services will be highly regarded
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at the appropriate level of detail and technical content for the target audience

  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage a diverse workload
