As NGE expands its presence internationally, NGE Canada is looking for an experienced Civil Design Lead.You will be part of an international team, composed mainly of engineers and construction employees, able to meet the expectations of the local and international markets.We are growing fast in Canada and we need you!About the ProjectThe Rolling Stock, Systems, Operations and Maintenance (RSSOM) project is one of many contracts to deliver the Ontario Line, a 15.6-kilometre stand-alone rapid transit line that will connect the Ontario Science Centre to Exhibition/Ontario Place.Project BenefitsFaster, more frequent and reliable access to rapid transit with more than 227,500 people will live within a 10-minute walk of an Ontario Line stationImprove the quality of life for commuters by reducing daily travel timeReduce crowding on the existing Line 1 (Yonge-University) subwayUp to 57,000 more jobs accessible by transit (in 45 minutes or less) for Toronto residentsEconomic and community growth along the future transit line and thousands of job opportunities annually during constructionReduction in traffic congestion, greenhouse gases and fuel consumption by providing an alternative transportation optionThe Role Reporting to the Design Manager, the Civil Design Lead shall support the CJV Connect 6ix design team in managing and delivering its civil and structural design Scope of Works (SoW) for the Ontario Line (OL) project, as per Connect 6ix design and design quality management plans.ResponsibilitiesWork closely with the Design Manager, interface, Project Controls, RAMS & Safety, Designers and Contracting Authority to develop and deliver the Civil CJV design and support implement design assurance processes, work plans, and reports for the delivery of the overall Civil and structural CJV's design.Track and monitor the designer's schedule, design changes, and design development records during the different stages of the design development process; coordinating and supporting the completion of the CJV Connect 6ix Monthly Progress Reports.Support the Design Manager to coordinate the different CJV design registers, by regular updates of related logs to track all documents and keep the right record of design progress as per Connect 6ix design assurance processes. Support the Design Manager with the program and project document management system and retrieve project documentation communicated between the different CJV Connect 6ix teams. Coordinate, schedule and participate in meetings with the CJV designers, Contracting Authority, external stakeholders and project team; prepare and distribute meeting materials and minutes; track and follow up on meeting action items as required to ensure actions are undertaken. Review the design deliverables submitted to Connect 6ix by all the different designers involved in the design, and ensure designs are aligned with Connect 6ix delivery strategy, obligations, and internal management plans. Ensure all design deliverables and documentation are fully compliant with the CJV Connect 6ix technical requirements, safety requirements, applicable standards, and follow CJV Connect 6ix quality standards. Organize, control and follow up processes to have all deliverables timely issued by the different stakeholders.Attend/ manage design-related meetings, including Discipline reviews, HAZID / HAZOP meetings, meetings with different OL project stakeholders, etc.Ensure readiness and provide support to organize all internal/external audits required (PR, Third parties, Partners).QualificationsAt least 7 years of experience in the design delivery for civil structures within multidisciplinary teams and major projects. Preference for railway knowledge including but not limited to depots, stations, civil works and rail systemsGood understanding of design and delivery assurance processes. Ability to write accurate and detailed reports.A good communicator and able to build positive working relationships, internally and with the supply chain.Degree-level qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.Comfortable to work in office 5 days a week.
