Job Description: Start-Up Manager at Toboggan FlatsAbout Toboggan Flats:Toboggan Flats rapidly transforms vacant office floors in downtown buildings into affordable co-living rentals for young Canadians. Contemporary private living spaces linked to central shared facilities, Toboggan Flats utilizes the existing building infrastructure for faster, more scalable, low-carbon construction. We address housing affordability, market demands, owner interests, and health policy concerns while aiming to build more than 3000 rental units in 1 million sq. ft. by the end of 2025. That's just phase 1!Affordable housing in vacant office space through co-living for young professionals.The Need:Seven million young Canadians face a housing crisis, with limited savings and high rental costs. co-living is common, but options are scarce and expensive. Office vacancies in downtown areas are rising, affecting businesses and cities. Governments are under pressure to increase affordability and housing supply. Commercial real estate owners are seeking solutions amidst shifting work trends.The Role: Start-Up ManagerAs a Start-Up Manager at Toboggan Flats, you'll play a crucial role in launching and managing our innovative affordable housing venture. Responsibilities may include:Project Management: Oversee different aspects of the start-up process, from concept to execution, ensuring alignment with timelines and objectives.Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with partners, government officials, investors, and community members to garner support and resources.Operations: Develop and implement operational procedures, including leasing, and user experience.Marketing and Outreach: Contribute to marketing efforts to attract tenants, raise funding and awareness, and promote Toboggan Flats' mission and offerings.Financial Management: Manage budgets, financial projections, and funding sources, ensuring cost-effective operations and sustainable growth.Development Planning: Work with our partner architects and engineers to stay abreast of zoning regulations, building codes, and other legal requirements, ensuring full compliance throughout the venture.Requirements:Education and experience in business, real estate, urban planning, government relations, or related field Proven experience in start-up management, real estate development, or related fieldsDynamic leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teamsExcellent connection and communication skillsCuriosity and understanding of housing policies and innovation, zoning and building regulationsOpenness to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes and build strategic partnershipsExperience in budgeting and real estate financial managementAn inventive and playful mindsetHow You Can Help:Join us in addressing Canada's housing crisis by bringing your drive and passion to Toboggan Flats.
