With freshly raised capital, we are now looking to expand our team at senior level with an experienced Vice President of Equity Research/Portfolio Manager to act as a Deal Captain. The role will incorporate all aspects of the deal cycle from execution through to portfolio management, offering a highly attractive long term career prospect within a highly dynamic team. Reporting to the Managing Partner's the Vice President of Equity Research and Portfolio Manager is primarily responsible for continuously assessing and improving the work processes for sales and service management, risk management and compliance within prescribed limits to maximize effectiveness and efficiency. Influencing the strategic direction of the line of business assisting with the development, prioritization and implementation of business, technology, sales and service, channel optimization and enhanced customer experienceWhat the job involvesProvide strategic direction and leadership to the team, setting goals and priorities to ensure the delivery of high-quality research and investment insights.Oversee the research process, from idea generation to investment recommendation, ensuring thorough analysis of companies, industries, and market trends.Collaborate with partners and other members of the investment team to develop and implement investment strategies that capitalize on market opportunities and deliver strong performance.Conduct in-depth fundamental analysis of companies, evaluating financial statements, industry dynamics, competitive positioning, and other relevant factors.Build and maintain financial models to forecast company performance, assess valuation metrics, and support investment decisions.Stay abreast of macroeconomic factors, regulatory changes, and industry developments that may impact investment decisions, and incorporate these insights into the research process.Present investment recommendations and research findings to senior management, investment committees, and clients, articulating the rationale behind investment decisions.Foster relationships with company management teams, industry experts, and sell-side analysts to gather insights and information that enhance the research process.Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal investment policies and procedures. Responsible for asset allocation implementation, portfolio construction, and manager selection within firm discretionary multi-asset model portfolios Serve as a deep investment subject matter expert and deliver high quality recommendations, including asset allocation/investment selection, in an efficient manner to support the Canadian Portfolio Management Team (PMT) areas of influence and support other areas of the organization in pursuit of firm objectives. Ensure recommendations of the team are consistent with EquityLine investment philosophy, adhere to our established investment process, and deliver performance that meet or exceed expectation on behalf of clients through active participation on Canadian PMT.Identifying and evaluating potential investment opportunities for the firm through own research and expert interviewsPresenting the firm externally and independently, meeting founders and owners of potential targets as well as other relevant stakeholders such as M&A advisors and financing partnersParticipate in getting approvals from brokerages to add EquityLine product onto shelf. Consultant to provide recommendations on alternative investment ideas and opportunities to the Company, with any and all decisions, discretionary or non-discretionary, concerning entering into investment transactions being the sole responsibility of the Company and its portfolio managers and/or registered representatives. Provide research and analysis on prospective investment opportunities. Provide recommendations on deal structure and financing. Provide Deal Consulting services on capital and portfolio allocations for the alternative bucket of the E.L. Diversity Limited Partnership Introduction to existing relationships with Investment Banks, Brokerages, Investment Advisors, Professionals, Family Office, High Net Worth Individuals To assist in any fund-raising initiatives requested by E.L. Diversity Limited Partnership by making recommendations and introductions to potential investors. About you:7+ years experience as a portfolio manager with coverage and/or extensive industry experience with a proven track record of generating alpha through investment recommendations strongly preferred.Several years of experience in direct private equityStrong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.Deep understanding of financial markets, investment principles, and valuation techniques.Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis.Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively articulate investment theses and insights.Must satisfy education and experience requirements to be licensed as a Portfolio ManagerBachelor's degree required (business related degree strongly preferred) CIM or CFA designation requiredCSC and CPH requiredMBA and CFP an assetProficiency in spreadsheets, databases, and other software programs (Morningstar Direct, Microsoft Office, FactSet, Bloomberg, BlackRock Aladdin, etc.)About our benefits:Competitive compensation packagesEligibility for bonus as well as benefitsReimbursement of your professional development/trainingBe provided an opportunity for equity / profit share compensation.Have a direct line of sight to the high-level workings of all deals (including but not limited legal, accounting and others).Work in an entrepreneurial environment that encourages creativity.
