Job Description (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); An autonomous road agency, responsible for the management, development, rehabilitation and maintenance of international trunk roads linking centres of international importance and crossing international boundaries or terminating at international ports(Class A road), national trunk roads linking internationally important centres (Class B roads), and primarily roads linking provicially important centres to each other or two higher-classroads (Class C roads). Our Core Functions Constructing, upgrading, rehabilitating and maintaining roads Class A, B, C roads. Implementing road policies in relation to national roads. Ensuring adherence to the rules and guidelines on axle load control prescribed under the traffic act and any regulations under this act. Ensuring that the quality of roads works is in accordance with such standards as may be defined by the minister. Collecting and collating all such data related to the use of national roads as may be necessary for efficient forward planning under this act. Job Purpose To advance research and innovations on KeNHA’s road engineering technologies and businessprocesses for continuous enhancement of value for public resources and delivery on the Authority’smandate. Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: Lead in formulating, developing and delivery of research, and innovation strategies for the Authority. Advising and spearheading priority innovative projects in the Authority and promoting the adaptation of new methods and products relevant to the Authority’s mandate. Coordinating both technical and corporate research for the authority. Coordinating the identification and growth of partnership for funding and implementation research and innovation. Managing the authority’s innovation programmes and hubs. Developing research methodologies and framework for strategic and action research, and innovations programmes. Leading in the knowledge management and dissemination of the same for the Authority Managing outsourced research and business services. Developing, monitoring, and controlling departmental budgets. Promoting, supporting and empowering Research and Innovation initiatives. Monitoring research trials for new methods and products. Overseeing specific programmes in material testing and use of innovative technologies in road works. Leading in identification of business development opportunities and new sources of funding. Developing market research plans and strategies for the Authority. Providing regular updates on research activities across the Authority. Develop and maintain a relevant influential linkages with innovators, academia and research institutions with the goal of identifying the strongest opportunities for improving efficiency and effectiveness of the Authority’s mandate Identification and championing of opportunities for open innovation Managing and developing staff in the department. Job Specifications For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:- At least ten years relevant work experience either in public or private sector, four of which should be in a supervisory role. Masters Degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management, Public Policy, Research Methods, Statistics or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution. Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution. Membership to a relevant professional body with a current practicing Licence and post registration minimum experience of years. A Doctorate Degree will be an added advantage Demonstrated Applied Research competence. Demonstrated Leadership and Management competency including Project Management skills. Proven proficiency in computer applications.
