Job SummaryThe staff nurse in the Psychiatry ward is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients with mental health disorders. Responsible for provision of nursing care activities and coordinates care planning with other disciplines, utilizing the nursing process to provide quality nursing care in adherence to policies and procedures of Care Hospitals, MOH regulations and accreditation standards. Duties and ResponsibilitiesUtilizes nursing process in the provision of nursing care activities.Conducts assessment through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history.Assess patients and monitors response to interventions; notify physician accordingly and complete documentation in a timely manner and consult with psychiatrist and other behavioral health staff in designing appropriate treatment plan for clients.Develop a treatment plan according to the needs and extent of emotional, social cognitive, development or behavioral disorder. Assisting patients in managing their daily activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.Maintains safe custody, administration and documentation of medications, narcotics and infusions according to MOH regulations and international standards.Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team and participate in providing effective patient and family education.Encourage patient and family involvement and participation in the plan of careMaintain confidentiality of patient information Ability to build the rapport relationship with the patients, providing support and counseling to patients and their families.Providing emotional support, active listening, and empathy to patients and families during educational sessions.Administer and notes reactions to psychotropic drugs and other medications.Assists in maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff and patients.
