Our client is a leading cloud platform providing excellence in IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity, data storage, content delivery and an array of database services. You will be based in central London with the option to work remotely 1-2 days per week, where you’ll have a direct report to the Global Privacy Counsel based in East Coast, USA. You will manage all EMEA Privacy Matters and provide expert advice on a broad range of privacy and data protection matters across the EMEA jurisdiction focusing on strategic privacy goals and providing operational legal support on processes organization. This is an opportunity to play a key role with guidance on various privacy matters across multiple departments i.e. global marketing, procurement, product teams in conjunction with the Global Privacy team. You will assist the commercial legal team by reviewing and negotiating privacy-related agreements, (e.g. DPAs and Data Sharing Agreements, SCCs), in support of global sales transactions and procurement. With a clear focus on IaaS, SaaS/Cloud, you’ll assist IT and Legal teams with the transfer of data and advise on the possible risks which may impact the business whilst ensuring the business is adhering to GDPR guidelines in relation to international data transfer developments. The ideal candidate will have experience in advising Software and IT Developers who lack the understanding and implications of GDPR and Privacy law matters which impact the design of their innovative products. Must have at least 10yrs PQE and be UK Qualified with legal training from a top-tier Privacy Team of an internationally acclaimed Law Firm. Candidates with current in-house or recent secondment privacy/GDPR experience gained from a multinational cloud corporation will be preferred. To succeed you’ll need more than a legal brain and strong academics as this Privacy Team requires a legal professional who is naturally pragmatic where you’re comfortable to review and advise on newly created products.
