My client, a leading food distribution company in Ireland are seeking to hire a General Transport Manager to join and to lead their operation based in Dublin. The ideal candidate for this position will be a driven and hardworking individual who has experience at a senior level within transportation and logistics and who thrives working in a fast paced environment. Second to this candidates applying should have strong experience in managing and developing customer relationships and have a relentless focus on driving continuous improvement across a large scale business. The chosen candidate will have the opportunity to bring their ideas and philosphies to the role and will be encouraged to drive a strong operation and culture. Key Responsibilities: Focus relentlessly on improving operational efficiency throughout the entire supply chain. Oversee the day-to-day planning and scheduling of home deliveries in designated stores across the Republic of Ireland. Manage the whole fleet and routing, ensuring a customer-first approach aligned with operational efficiency. Lead, motivate, and provide guidance to direct reports, optimizing driver and vehicle utilization. Monitor and analyze key performance indicators and operational metrics to maximize profitability, including driver and vehicle utilization and customer satisfaction. Ensure adequate staffing, including managing annual leave and scheduling, and collaborate with training and HR departments to uphold quality and safety standards. Address HSA/regulatory and compliance matters to maintain high safety standards and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. Implement effective resource management strategies to capitalize on seasonal demand spikes. Oversee fleet maintenance and replacement to minimize downtime and repairs while maximizing return on investment. Manage the transport-related insurance program, investigate incidents, and implement preventive procedures. Collaborate with relevant individuals to prepare and manage budgets as required. Uphold the highest safety standards, inspiring the team to consistently deliver a top-tier service Key Requirements: Previous experience as a Transport Manager within an FMCG company. A bachelors in supply chain/logistics is desireable. Understanding of RSA regulations. Strong administrative & communication skills.
