Location: Remote / Dublin, Ireland job type: Fixed Term / Part-time Sector and subsector: Medical & Healthcare | Management / Senior Appointments Salary: Competitive Salary Job Title: Director ICGP Network of Establishing General Practitioners (NEGs) Programme Reporting to: The Medical Director and the Membership Committee Base: Remote. Appointee will be expected to attend meetings at ICGP, Lincoln Place, Dublin 2 as required. Contract type: Service Level Agreement, part-time, fixed term: 3.5 years. Hours per week: Two sessions per week (one session per week for the initial and last three months of the contract to allow for hand-over)About the ICGP
The Irish College of General Practitioners is the postgraduate training body (PGTB) responsible for postgraduate education, training and research in the specialty of General Practice. The College has a national advisory role in relation to medical standards and engages with the Medical Council, Department of Health and Children, the Health Service Executive and the Health Information & Quality Authority among others. As a membership organisation, the ICGP is responsible for providing and supporting the continuous professional development for general practitioners, numbering over 4,000. The ICGP is the PGTB accredited by the Medical Council to provide professional training for doctors wishing to enter the specialty of General Practice.Job Purpose
The objective of the ICGP NEGs Programme is to provide support and advice to establishing College members and to foster active involvement in College. The NEGs programme targets those in their 4 th year of training and those up to six years post training. The role of the Director is to oversee all aspects of the programme as detailed in the KRAs below. Oversight of Mentoring Programme and related duties.- Integration of establishing GPs into College Organisational Structures
- Integration of establishing GPs at Faculty level
- Identify the specific needs of establishing GPs and make recommendations on how these needs can be addressed in a practical manner and within resources available. These may be identified by mentorship findings and other data we may get from other ICGP committees and surveys.
- Manage Web based NEGs Resources
- Collaborative work with other ICGP programmes and activities
- Representative Roles
Qualifications & experience
- Be a medically qualified health professional, holding the MICGP qualification and be a current College member in good standing for the duration of the post.
- Be enrolled on and in compliance with the Professional Competence Scheme.
- Concurrently hold a part time clinical appointment equivalent to a minimum of four sessions of clinical general practice per week.
- Be registered with the Medical Council of Ireland on the Specialist Division for general practice.
- Be a self-starter with high motivation and the ability to work flexibly on own initiative.
- Possess excellent communication skills.
- At ease with presentations both remote and in person.
- The ideal candidate will be within 10 years of completing general practice specialist training.
