The Senior Property Accountant is responsible, through the use of solid accounting, analytical and time management skills to provide expertise to process, review and evaluate the financial transactions of an assigned portfolio of multi-family properties under the direction of the Controller. Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of property accounting including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and month-end close processes.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, variance analysis, and budget reports for multiple properties.
  • Coordinate with property managers to ensure accurate recording of financial transactions and adherence to budgetary guidelines.
  • Perform reconciliations of bank accounts, intercompany transactions, and property-level accounts.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual operating budgets and forecasts, providing insights and recommendations to optimize property performance.
  • Monitor and analyze property expenses, identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors during audit processes.
  • Provide support and guidance to junior accounting staff as needed.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in property accounting.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA designation preferred.
  • Proven experience of 5years in property accounting, preferably in the real estate industry.
  • Strong knowledge of USGAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with property management software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, Realpage) is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality in financial reporting.
