We are looking for a qualified lawyer with a keen interest in commercial law to support our in-house legal team which provides legal support to Renault UK, including the Dacia and Alpine brands. We would welcome applications from candidates who are looking for reduced hours. The in-house legal department is responsible for supporting a wide range of legal issues including commercial and contract law, advertising law, consumer protection, intellectual property, employment law and dispute resolution/litigation, as well as supporting and assisting other specialist teams with advice on company procedures, risk management and compliance. We are a small team with a busy and varied workload. This is a real opportunity to build up a broad base of practical commercial law experience in a fast moving and exciting industry. What will you be doing You will be working with internal stakeholders and clients to:

  • Review commercial contracts to minimise and manage legal risks
  • Provide data protection legal support to the business
  • Manage customer and commercial litigation
  • Review and approve marketing materials to ensure compliance with advertising rules
  • Assist in research and training to keep departments abreast of changes to relevant laws
  • Assist in monitoring and protecting against intellectual property infringements
  • Assist with compliance activities and training
What are we looking for
  • Strong academic record with a 2.1 degree in Law or law conversion
  • Previous experience working as a commercial lawyer, preferably in-house or in a commercial law practice
  • Strong expertise and experience in contract drafting and negotiation
  • Good IT skills in Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Experience or interest in data protection would be an advantage
  • Willing to consider applicants who want to work less than 5 days
