Mō te tūnga | About the role You will manage capability projects that support the combat function of the NZ Army. You will be responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining project artefacts and documentation in accordance with Capability Management Framework processes and the PRINCE2 best practice.
  • Ensuring projects produce the required capabilities within the specified time, cost, quality, scope and risk.
  • Achieving the benefits defined in the relevant business cases for each stage.
  • Managing the acquisition of the required project products and deliverables in line with NZDF policies.
  • Leading project team members to ensure they are engaged and productive.
This role is based at Messines Defence Centre in Trentham with free on-site parking. Once you have undergone training and are up to speed flexible working options are negotiable. Please Note: The formal title for this role within NZDF is Senior Project Manager Land – Combat Support. You will have proven experience in leading, managing and successfully implementing small scale projects as a Project Manager, Project Analyst or similar role. You will have extensive knowledge of Project Management methodologies and tools, ideally PRINCE2. You will also have:
  • Proven ability to deal with complex conceptual issues and to apply problem solving techniques.
  • Well-developed analytical skills with the ability to think laterally in preparing business cases, business specifications and training material.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
  • Strong relationship management skills to develop, foster, and maintain relationships within the NZDF and externally.
  • Proven experience in directing, managing and motivating a successful project team.
Domestic travel to NZDF Camps and Bases is required so you can engage with stakeholders and see projects in action. There is the potential for overseas travel to scope projects.
