Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment”. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. UNEP’s Ecosystems Division works with international and national partners, providing technical assistance and capacity development for the implementation of environmental policy, and strengthening the environmental management capacity of developing countries and countries with economies in transition. This consultancy post is located in the Biodiversity, People and Landscapes Unit in the Biodiversity and Land Branch, within the Ecosystem Division. The Biodiversity, People and Landscapes Unit supports work on Wildlife Economy, Human-Wildlife Co- existence, One Health, Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities, Sustainable Forest Management, The Global Peatlands Initiative, Mountain Landscapes, Nature-based Solutions, and Great Apes. This specific position will assist in the development and delivery of the UNEP’s implementation of UNEA Resolution 5/5 on Nature-based Solutions for Sustainable Development under the BPL, and the scoping and implementation phases of the Transformation and Mainstreaming of Nature Unit’s Nature 4 Health Multi-Partner Trust Fund. Requirements Qualifications/special skills A postgraduate degree (Master’s or equivalent) in environmental management, development or a related area is required. A first level degree with additional two years of qualifying experience maybe accepted in lieu of postgraduate degree A minimum of 2 years of work experience in international environment and development is required. Experience in advocacy communications and outreach for non-profit or international organizations is required. Experience in working with vulnerable groups is an advantage. Experience in working in international organizations such as the UN is an advantage. Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the consultancy post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. A good working knowledge of French and/or Spanish is an advantage. Knowledge of other UN official languages is desirable. #J-18808-Ljbffr
