The Director, Travel Vertical lead will be a part of the Acceptance team within the Merchant Sales and Acquiring (MS&A) hub organization. This is a team of thought leaders and execution-focused specialists who deploy acceptance growth initiatives and seller-side solutions to catalyse acceptance growth across Asia Pacific. The team is also the regional co-ordination point and interface into the global verticals and segments and drives the overall strategy for multiple initiatives to grow Visa’s acceptance footprints. As a key member of this team based in Asia Pacific, you will be the business lead responsible for identifying and delivering on opportunities within the Travel vertical with client segments such as airlines, hotels and other travel partners/enablers. You will leverage your deep domain expertise of travel and payments to help grow Merchant Sales & Acquiring opportunities through enhancing customer experience, optimizing payment performances and driving revenue growth for both the clients and Visa. This role will report to Head of Acceptance in AP. Key responsibilities will include:
  • Build, own and drive Visa’s Travel segment strategy for merchants, acquirers, and enablers across the Travel value-chain in Asia Pacific.
  • Be the subject-matter-expert to grow Visa acceptance, cobrands opportunities, acceptance solutions and various payment flows with travel merchants (eg: airlines, hotels, OTAs) as identified in the regional Travel strategy.
  • Engage with ecosystem players including airlines, hotels, aggregators, travel enablers, travel associations, GDS and others to identify and build opportunities/partnerships to grow Acceptance in Travel, update on trends and obtain industry feedback.
  • Collaborate with key partners - both internal and external – in defining and executing Visa’s Travel Acceptance strategy in the region, Specifically, this includes building compelling sales collateral, developing a sales pipeline, co-pitching with respective Account Executives, partnering with Product teams to define appropriate products/services, Portfolio Optimization and building commercial arrangements where required.
  • Front client engagements on relevant products/solutions such as Co-Brands, CyberSource, Tokenization etc and articulate Visa value proposition in Travel customer-centric language
  • Increase Visa share of processed volume and grow Visa revenue (from core and Value-added Services) in the Travel vertical
  • Be a thought leader and champion of innovation by staying current with industry trends, representing Visa in Travel forums and market activities as a subject matter expert
  • Work closely with marketing and respective Global/Regional Travel teams (including VCS, VCA) where required to evolve the Visa value proposition, products, and platforms globally to meet client/market needs in this ecosystem and drive future growth.
• 12 or more years of work experience with a bachelor’s degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)• The successful candidate should have significant experience working in the Travel Industry (either with airlines, hotels, OTAs, GDSs, enablers etc)• Be an expert with the payment operations/setups and pain points with Travel merchants. Ideally, the successful candidate should have experience working with payment gateways and acquirers, or on payment solutions in the travel space (eg: Co-Brand, Tokenization etc). • Demonstrated track record in developing new strategies and business development in this vertical will be advantageous. • Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively across functions and geographies in a complex matrix environment. • Team player who can develop strong internal and external relationships ensuring uptake and delivery of Visa solutions via effective influencing and communication skills to secure buy-in from clients and stakeholders. • Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability and ability to manage and progress multiple projects concurrently. • Strong commercial acumen, with experience in working on business/value cases which prove ROI. • Be open minded and excited about future technologies, willing to learn and work in a multi-cultural environment.
