Through ongoing growth in its partnerships, membership and programming, GRI continues to build strong connections, provide critical research, education and events for risk leaders globally.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThe Director, Research will report to the Managing Director, Head of Research. Their primary responsibility is to support the Managing Director, Head of Research in the management of both GRI's internal and external research projects and in building GRI's research strategy.Specific responsibilities include:Produce innovative and original research supporting GRI's research agendaHelp build GRI's research profile through:Building out GRI's key research capabilities by oversight of the production of research deliverablesSpeaking in GRI's programs and in non-GRI events and conferencesEngaging with GRI members and key stakeholders on GRI research related mattersManage a team of research associates/analysts, ensuring they are actively engaged in producing research and providing them with professional developmentWork with the Managing Director, Head of Research to enhance GRI's participation in research conferences, workshops, panel/roundtable discussions and international eventsAssist the Managing Director, Head of Research in identifying potential research partners at prominent universities and other research organizationsAdminister GRI's internal research portfolioOversee production of GRI research deliverables, in terms of scheduling, final production and marketingAssist the Managing Director, Head of Research in setting internal research directionsPROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONSCandidates will require a broadly-based and integrated understanding of risk and its implications for both the financial system as a whole and for individual players, as well as the ability to communicate research findings in ways that inform and engage decision makers.Success in the role of Director, Research will require:An understanding of research and its productionAbility to work as an effective team playerStrong relationship-building skillsAbility to communicate effectively and professionally with a broad range of people, from academics to executives and board members at major financial institutionsStrong organizational skills and time-management skillsAbility to exercise sound judgment in complex situations and build consensus amidst competing prioritiesAbility to plan and execute projects and events, on time and within budgetDesirable experience:Approximately 10 years financial services experience, predominantly in a risk management associated function at a major financial institutionExperience producing research or supervising research productionLeadership experience within a risk management function or risk management industry associationDeep understanding of the Canadian regulatory environmentEstablished network within the Canadian financial institution business communityEDUCATIONMinimum Masters level qualification, preferably at a top Canadian or other internationally recognized research universityCOMPENSATIONA competitive compensation package.SE# 510654595 Financial Services
