Welcome to an exciting opportunity in the heart of this stunning region, where rivers that wind through our landscapes meet the vast expanses of the Arctic and Pacific Oceans. Here, as Utility Maintenance Operator, you will be responsible for ensuring the steady supply of pure and refreshing water for our entire community. Join us in this crucial mission to provide exceptional water quality to our municipality, where every drop matters to all our residents.

Here's how you'll be involved behind the scenes:

Operation and Maintenance of Systems:

Operating, monitoring, inspecting, and maintaining water and sewer treatment, collection, and distribution systems.

Managing operational and control methodology to ensure system integrity.

Testing and Calibration:

Assisting in programming, testing, and maintenance of alarm and monitoring systems, including SCADA system controls and related alarm systems.

Conducting quality tests and chemical, physical, and bacteriological water sampling to ensure pure drinking water, adjusting parameters with precision.

Assisting in routine and emergency repairs of water distribution and sanitation systems.

Using maintenance tools and heavy equipment, including excavators, loading machines, and snow removal trucks.

Management and Documentation:

Noting daily readings, logging irregularities, and maintaining accurate records.

Contributing to the development of standard operating procedures, establishing a solid plan for asset management, all while drawing energy from the region's rivers.

Participating in the maintenance of supply inventory, timely procurement, and purchase of replacement products in accordance with procurement procedures.

Occupational Health and Safety:

Maintaining the order and sanitary aspects of treatment plants, creating an environment as pure as the water itself and adhering to established safety standards with the integrity of an experienced navigator.

Complete operations with any other related tasks.

Benefits of this position:

Relocation expenses covered, allowing you to immerse yourself in our community like a drop of water reaching the ocean.

Yukon is in the top five Canadian territories and provinces with the lowest tax rates in Canada.

With enchanting landscapes and a variety of activities, you won't want to go to bed. This works out perfectly, because one day a year, the sun stays present for a full 24 hours!

Requirements:

Level 2 EOCP Water Treatment Certificate, demonstrating your commitment to excellence like the powerful current of a river.

Three years of experience in a Class 1 or higher facility, elevating your expertise to unparalleled heights.

Class 3 driver's licence with approval for air brakes and heavy trailers.

Experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, loading machines, and snow removal trucks.

In-depth knowledge of wastewater collection systems and intermediate water distribution and wastewater treatment systems.

Experience operating SCADA systems and in a municipal water utility environment is an asset.

Professional skills such as carpentry and welding, as well as good mechanical skills, are also an asset.

Profile sought:

Proactivity and attention to detail; you have strong problem-solving skills and find appropriate solutions to each situation one drop at a time.

Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Effective, courteous communication, and positivity to provide excellent customer service.
