Thermal Production Operations EngineerWith a track record of sustainable energy practices and innovation in the oil and gas sector over the past 10+ years, Cardinal Energy is now entering the development of thermal heavy oil projects in Saskatchewan. As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a skilled Thermal Operations Engineer to join our dynamic team. Periodic field trips will be an expectation for this role. Position OverviewAs the Thermal Operations Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the successful development and operation of SAGD projects in Saskatchewan. You will play a role in the construction, commissioning, and ongoing operations of greenfield SAGD projects. This role requires a high degree of individual agency, technical expertise, and a proven track record in the thermal heavy oil industry.Experience and Qualifications: · Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.· Minimum of 5 years of experience in thermal heavy oil, SAGD, or related operations.· Extensive knowledge of well operations, start-up procedures, and reservoir and production management implementation.· Experience in asset integrity support and environmental performance tracking· Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools, with the ability to develop surveillance tools to monitor production performance effectively.· Strong document control skills, with experience in production accounting integration and AFE generation, cost tracking, and accruals.· Demonstrated project management success· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Key Responsibilities: · Develop and implement start-up procedures for new thermal heavy oil projects, ensuring smooth and efficient operations from initial commissioning to full-scale production.· Oversee reservoir and production management activities, including surveillance and optimization of well performance, to maximize production rates and reservoir recovery.· Provide asset integrity support to ensure the reliability and integrity of equipment and facilities, conduct inspections, implementing maintenance programs, and addressing integrity issues as they arise.· Track environmental performance metrics and support environmental compliance initiatives, including preparing materials for open houses and engaging with stakeholders effectively. · Originate and utilize data analysis and visualization tools to monitor production performance, identify trends and anomalies, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.· Manage document control processes, including maintaining accurate records of production data, regulatory compliance documentation, and project documentation.· Integrate production accounting processes with operational activities, generating AFEs, tracking costs, and managing accruals to ensure accurate financial reporting.· Lead minor projects, such as earthworks, delineation programs, and water source testing, coordinating activities, managing budgets, and ensuring timely completion.· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Development, Geosciences, Finance, and Environmental Health and Safety, to achieve project objectives and optimize asset performance.· Travel periodically to field locations to provide technical support, conduct inspections, and collaborate with field personnel to optimize operational performance and address challenges as they arise.If you are a motivated and results-oriented professional with a passion for thermal heavy oil production and the flexibility to travel periodically to field locations, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
