Primary PurposeWe are looking to hire an experienced and versatile Communications Manager to join our dynamic team. This position is perfect for a seasoned communications professional with experience working with multiple brands and a strong digital copywriting background looking for a new challenge.The Communications Manager will support a wide variety of departments and initiatives. Their duties will include writing, editing, and proofreading employee and student communications, ad copy and other digital marketing content, marketing collateral, blogs, stories, and website copy.General Description Under general supervision, the Communications Manager will help oversee and create clear and concise communications for the universities and ensure quality and brand consistency. The successful candidate will have a strong background and experience writing for post-secondary institutions and digital ad copy. They will ensure successful deadline delivery and manage direct reports within the department. The Communications Manager will assist in creating and editing marketing and promotional material as required and assist with other communications department duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing.Specific Responsibilities The Communications Manager will at various times be responsible for the following, as well as other related duties as assigned to support the business objectives and purpose of GUS Canada:Write and edit stories, press releases, student messages, internal announcements, and marketing collateral as needed.Write and edit PPC, Paid Social, email, landing page, SEO, and other digital marketing copy.Write clear and concise copy for the website while keeping SEO and web best practices in mind.Create and edit copy for websites, blog posts, social media platforms, emails/newsletters, print and digital ad campaigns.Edit/proof communication or marketing materials.Liaise with other departments within the universities to determine communications needs and fulfill those requests in a timely manner.Assist the Digital Marketing Manager in using analytics and creating reports detailing communications campaigns' and strategies' successes and failures.Find ways to improve current processes.Stay up to date on industry trends and make recommendations for adjustments to communications strategies and practices.Other related duties are assigned to support the business objectives and purpose of the universities.Help manage the Communications team and assign tasks as required.Provide mentorship, feedback, and support to the marketing team and direct reports to enable them to grow in their roles.Position RequirementsCompetencies:To be successful in the Communications Manager position, individuals must be committed to developing, maintaining, and demonstrating the following:Mastery of written English grammar, syntax, and punctuation.Ability to adjust writing style for the audience of a particular communication.Familiar with communication best practices and how to communicate effectively.Experience writing effective ad copy for best conversion (PPC copy, paid social ads, emails, landing page copy, and SEO content)A keen eye for detail and ability to edit written copy and spot errorsAbility to juggle and prioritize multiple projects at once and complete them by stated deadlines.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.Ability to complete work in a timely manner with accuracy and attention to detail.Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.Prior team management experience.Good judgment and ability to prioritize assignments.Ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm focus during hectic periods.General understanding of the programs and services provided by the universities.Ability to exhibit a professional attitude and image with a commitment to quality service.
