Job Description:

Provides a high standard of radiographic chest x-ray imaging including the use of Computer Aided Detection (CAD) systems whilst ensuring that patients receive high quality care.

Job Responsibilities:

Develops a sound knowledge of the equipment used in order to be aware of malfunctions and errors and to report.

Keeps accurate patient records including recording radiation dose and exposure factors.

Provides support and reassurance to patients who may be unwell or have barriers to understanding.

Uses the Picture Archive & Communication system (PACS) for reviewing images and reports.

Provides a high standard of technique and patient positioning and ensure that standards are maintained.

Participates in the department Quality Assurance equipment testing programme.

Operates and utilise, in conjunction with back-up radiological support, Computer Aided Detection (CAD) systems with particular reference to Tuberculosis detection systems.

Uses the Radiology Information System (RIS) for patient registration, X-ray ordering and scheduling. Recording accurate patient information relating to dose and use of consumables.

Works alone at particular times

Ensures that the Ionising Radiation (for Medical Exposure) Regulations are adhered to.

Undertakes radiographic imaging to a high standard whilst ensuring that radiation doses are kept to a minimum using the ALARP principle including the use of dose reduction factors.

Job Requirements:

Previous experience using CAD would be advantageous

Evidence of continuous professional development

Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent from three-year College or university

3 years working experience as a Radiographer
