Ecological Restoration Field Staff - Auckland

Ecological Restoration Team Members Auckland Wildlands are seeking fulltime permanent Ecological Restoration Operatons Team Members based at our Auckland Office. These roles are to undertake ecological restoration work including pest plant control, pest animal control and revegetation. Although these field roles are based within the Auckand region, our staff regularly work away on restoration projects throughout the country, and applicants who have the ability to travel and stay away for a week at a time are preferred. It is essential that you have a willingness to contribute and work in a team, are physically fit, and have a passion for working outdoors in all sorts of weather. The work will also require staff to use agrichemicals (herbicides), animal toxins (poisons), and traps on a regular basis. Skills, Knowledge and Experience
  • A genuine interest in working in the outdoors and achieving restoration goals.
  • A good work ethic, efficient and H&S conscious.
  • Pest animal control and monitoring.
  • Indigenous plant and pest plant identification.

Wildlands is seeking a fulltime permanent Ecological Restoration Team Leader for our Auckland branch. This role is to lead small teams in the field undertaking ecological restoration works, comprising: pest plant control, pest animal control and planting. You will be mentoring and training staff, leading by example, undertake basic reporting and record keeping, ensuring the health and safety of your team, and encouraging and maintaining a positive team culture. There will be opportunities for liaising with client representatives and other stakeholders including the general public, Iwi and community groups. We are looking for a Team Leader with a professional work ethic, and at least two years’ restoration experience. It is essential that you are able to communicate effectively to your team/managers, have excellent planning and problem-solving skills, and a positive and efficient work ethic. This role requires visits to new and ongoing ecological restoration sites throughout the Auckland area. The work requires staff to use agrichemicals (herbicides), vertebrate toxins (poisons), and traps on a regular basis. Appropriate training will be provided for specialist areas of work where required (e.g., Controlled Substance Licence). Some work will involve staying away in remote areas in basic accommodation.
