We are currently working in partnership with a rapidly growing building regulations compliance consultancy firm, who are looking to appoint a Technical Director (Fire Safety Lead) on a permanent contract. This will be a full-time position with hybrid working and a salary of between £80,000 - £90,000 per annum . Candidates can be based anywhere in the UK. The ideal candidate will have Chartered Engineer status (CEng) through the Institute of Fire Engineers and significant practical experience in applying appropriate design guidance including Approved Document B, BS9991, BS9991, and other HTM and BB100. Duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Being responsible for the financial management and mentorship of the small professional team
- Reviewing scheme proposals generally from RIBA Stage 2 and providing initial comments and mark-ups with regards to compliance with Building Regulations Part B
- Following suitable development of scheme proposals in line with our initial comments, the writing of formal fire strategy reports for key milestones
- Providing interpretation of feedback from Building Control Bodies and Fire Authorities as part of the formal approval process and negotiating appropriate responses
- Assisting design teams with development of the fire strategy elements, including attendance of design team meetings as agreed with our client
- Advising clients on pre-acquisition in relation to fire design compliance matters
- Chartered Engineer Status (CEng) through the Institute of Fire Engineers
- Practical experience in applying appropriate design guidance including Approved Document B, BS9991 (2015), BS9991 (2017), and others including HTM and BB100
- Knowledge of Building Regulations Part B requirements
- Emerging changes to design guidance, such as BS9991 (2021)
- Aware of changes to regulatory regime including introduction of the Building Safety Regulator
