Are you a General Practitioner (GP) looking for change? Aboriginal Health work can provide you with an incredibly rewarding and unforgettable experience that will bring a renewed sense of purpose and meaning to your career. As a bonus, you'll get to visit a range of incredible locations from remote desert communities to beachside towns and everything in between. Dates: Locum dates thoughout the year. Generally, minimum of 2-3 weeks per placement. Location: Various locations across Australia, including some of the most spectacular locations in the country. Remuneration: $1500 - $2000 per day + GST Logistics: Flights, accommodation and travel costs are covered. Roster: Monday – Friday, no on-call or after hours About the role:

  • You will be working within a multidisciplinary team providing holistic and culturally appropriate care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • You will receive a high level of support from other GPs, Remote Area Nurses, Aboriginal Health Workers, other Visiting Specialists and Allied Health.
  • Consultation times will vary but are generally anywhere from 20 minutes to 1 hour depending on . Generally patients are triaged by a Nurse and Aboriginal Health Worker prior to their consultation. This is not burn and churn medicine!
  • Software can vary between clinics, but Communicare is most commonly used software in AMS. Most clinics will provide you with the training and support you need during your induction.
About you:
  • Unrestricted AHPRA Registration
  • Current working rights in Australia
  • Hold either FRACGP or FACRRM. Some clinic will accept Non-VR Doctors on FSP or experienced Non-VR GPs eligible for OMPEP.
  • Cultural sensitivity is a must, as well as an undestranding of the social, economic, cultural and behavioural factors that underpin ATSI health, both at individual and community levels.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
