Job Key Performance Areas Development and implementation of Safety, Health and Wellness strategies for ArcelorMittal South AfricaDevelop and coordinate the implementation of Safety, Health and, Wellness programs to assure management takes the necessary actions to address concerns and raise employee awareness - OHSACT Custodian to businessServe as liaison between ArcelorMittal Group, ArcelorMittal South Africa and Business Unit Management and employeesAdvise management on government regulations relating to Safety and Health and recommend necessary actions to attain complianceIdentify safety/health hazards inherent in the organization's operations and establish guidelines for protection from those hazardsAudit existing programs for compliance with company standards, government regulations, and adequacy relative to local conditionsMonitor existing and potential concerns and recommend priorities for resolutionCoordinate necessary recourses for successful implementation of identified programsAnalyze periodic performance reports for trends and conditions and alert line management to problemsInvestigate major accidents or problem areas and recommend preventative measuresProvide guidance in the develop of training and awareness programsReport on ArcelorMittal South Africa's Safety and Health performance and develop various business unit specific programs in achieving group's targetsMaintain relationships with relevant regulatory and government agenciesRepresent ArcelorMittal's interests at relevant forumsPrepare proposals, monthly reports and presentationsManage staff performance and budgetsEnsure implementation of strategic action plan Qualifications Applicable B-Degree discipline based (NQF 8/10) and preferably a Management Development ProgramĀ A relevant qualification in Safety/Contract Management and Certification in OHSAS 18000 will be advantageousRelevant qualification in Quality Management and Certified Quality Auditor status will be an advantage Knowledge and Experience Sound Health, Safety and Wellness knowledge and exposure within an industrial environmentGood understanding of relevant operational processesSound knowledge of Health and Safety legislationAble to formulate strategies and business goals within this environmentComputer literacy (MS Office, SAP modules and related software programs) Personal Attributes Sound business acumen and an ability to think strategicallyStrong communication and presentation skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills with good bilingual capabilitiesGood interpersonal skills, including a high level of discretion and diplomacy and ability to manage conflict and gain consensus commensurate with this senior positionAnalytical, benchmarking, problem solving and co-ordination skillsDynamic with high energy levelsAbility to influence relevant external agencies and make recommendations
