About this role

The role of Senior Project manager / Project Director will be a key leadership role within the construction management team responsible for the successful planning, execution, and delivery of solar and battery energy storage projects in South Africa. This role demands a seasoned professional with a proven track record in managing complex renewable energy projects.

Duties and responsibilities

Develop and implement project plans, strategies, and timelines for solar and battery energy storage initiatives.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, government agencies, contractors, and regulatory bodies.

Act as the primary point of contact for project-related communications.

Oversee project budgets, ensuring financial objectives are met.

Allocate and manage resources effectively, optimizing project efficiency.

Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.

Implement risk management plans to ensure successful project delivery

Monitor and evaluate project performance against established quality metrics.

Ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.

Implement effective project tracking and reporting mechanisms.

Ensure projects comply with all relevant regulations, permits, and codes.

Stay abreast of changes in regulatory requirements and adjust project plans accordingly.

Lead, inspire, and mentor project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

Conduct regular project team meetings and performance evaluations.

Required skills and education background.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.

Proven experience in managing solar and battery energy storage projects.

Strong understanding of renewable energy industry trends and technologies.

Project management certification such as PMP or Prince 2

Desirable attributes

The ideal candidate would have a passion for the Renewable Energy sector and personality traits would include a high level of diligence, determination, resilience, and agility.

Additional Information

Able to work overtime according to operational needs.
