We want consistent and predictable operations done the right way, every time. #Plains is seeking an Accounting Analyst to support our Empress Area District for a term of approximately 21 months. While reporting to the Manager, Field Operations Controls, the successful candidate will be responsible for the Capital budgeting, reporting and forecasting. This environment is fast paced and deadline driven requiring superb organizational skills and the ability to multi-task. This is an excellent opportunity to develop a broad range of skills. This position follows a 9/80 work schedule, which involves working a 9-hour shift Monday-Thursday, an 8 hour shift on Friday and every second Friday employees receive a day off. Responsibilities:
- Prepare Capital forecasts;
- Prepare Capital budgets;
- Report on budget variances;
- Ensure costs are reported as incurred, open commitments are accrued;
- Provide financial guidance and support to team members;
- Optimizing existing processes by evaluating current systems to identify inconsistencies or opportunities;
- Gather metrics, estimates and assumptions for use in budget preparation, forecasts and KPIs;
- Provide Project Cost Control;
- Prepare journal entries and allocations;
- Provide ad hoc assignments and reporting as required; and
- Provide backup support to team members
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related;
- Professional Accounting Designation, or working towards completion
- 5+ years of related work experience;
- Working knowledge of NGL processing and plant operations;
- Proficient Microsoft Office Suite skills – must possess advanced Excel skills;
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively;
- Positive attitude and the ability to work well in a team environment;
- Possess a sense of urgency and accountability, ability to respond to tight deadline requirements;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Must have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail;
- Ability to demonstrate initiative by undertaking tasks independently, and
- Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks;
