As Finance Director in APAC you will be responsible for both the regional APAC team (overseeing our key entities in HK and SG) and the Group team. You will play an important role in overseeing the accuracy of financial reporting of the entities within your scope, but also be a key driver in strategic projects like product expansions and license applications. This role will also be a very important contributor on the projects to support our long term IPO ambitions. You will lead a team across various locations and have the opportunity to further build on your leadership capabilities. Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for leading the controllership team in delivering financial reporting, driving an efficient monthly close process, streamlining finance operations, building a control framework and managing audits
- Empower your team by leading, mentoring and developing a strong team of high performing members
- Lead the Group financial statement audit and consolidation in accordance with US GAAP and ensure your team manages regional audits in accordance with local standards
- Support a wide range of strategic projects to enable Airwallex to continue its growth into new products or regions.
- Continuously identify opportunities for process improvements within the finance domain to increase efficiency or collaboration.
- Closely collaborate with product or business teams that require finance support on new product developments
- Close collaboration with other finance teams on department wide projects and change management
- Responsibilities of the role may develop over time.
- 10+ years of finance experience, Big Four experience is advantageous
- Master degree in accounting or related field, CPA or equivalent qualification preferred
- Strong understanding of financial services, fintech businesses and regulatory environments
- Extensive experience in a financial controlling role and proven track record of building and expanding these capabilities within an organization.
- Strong knowledge on local accounting standards and being able to apply them in practice.
- Proven experiencing in managing complex, local or international projects focused on process improvement initiatives
- Strong communicator and ability to interact with all levels within the organization
- Confident, creative and innovative thought leadership and communication skills to deliver impact in a hyper growth environment
- Experience working independently and navigating ambiguity
