A leading specialty chemical and process technology business working on petrochemical and materials applications is seeking a self-motivated Market Development Manager to join their growing commercial team as they explore future growth markets with a portfolio of products aimed at sustainability. This global chemical technology business offers highly-customised solutions to process challenges at some of the leading chemicals, engineering, plastics and petrochemicals companies worldwide. They continue to grow their focus on sustainable solutions, and have a strong footprint in emerging markets such as renewable fuels, advanced recycling and biopolymer production. In addition to this their presence is underpinned by a strong core offering in traditional markets including polyolefin production, refinery and chemical catalysis. As a medium-sized, established player in the market, they are agile and well-positioned to adapt to the changing energy and materials landscape. In this role you will proactively drive sales and gross profitability for several product lines in the Middle East, Central Asia and India territories. You will be required to act as both a new business developer and key account manager, always identifying opportunities for increased turnover, introduction of new technologies, or improved customer service. This position operates independently with the support of incredibly capable and responsive R&D, Marketing and Finance colleagues globally. This is a technical sales position where you have the opportunity to grow and run a business, using your application knowledge to identify opportunities for commercial outcomes, build strategic relationships, and proactively pursue leads. This will require a tenacious, resilient individual who will push for results, and can sell the true value of highly customised solutions. Whilst a large part of the business is across established product lines, some of the new business opportunities are related to products in development – you must collaborate closely with R&D teams in Europe and the US to ensure that customer satisfaction remains high and product development milestones are met. Market intelligence is a core component of the role in such a competitive landscape, and your role will see you delivering and acting on key market information to enable the company to achieve strategic goals. An experienced and influential new business developer and relationship-builder, with the technical credentials to back up their commercial work will thrive in this role. You must be confident with the introduction of highly technical products at a senior level within prospective customer organisations, and must be experienced working cross-functionally, as you will take responsibility for contract negotiations, NDAs, order management, shipments and invoicing. If you have a strong commercial background including both key customer management and new business development, exposure to the industrial catalysts industry, and wish to join a well-resourced and growing business where you can have a real impact, then this could be a great opportunity for you. For this position, it is essential you have:
  • BS-level education in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or similar.
  • 5+ Years’ experience in commercial positions within the catalyst industry.
  • Strong knowledge of catalytic applications – refinery, FCC, polymer production, waste valorisation.
  • Ability and experience in communicating at all levels within large petrochemical businesses, Engineers to Senior Leadership and every stage in-between.
  • Track record in value-selling specialty products within niche market areas.
  • Demonstrated success at developing and closing a strong and varied pipeline of new business in the chemicals industry.
  • Fluency in English. Arabic language skills desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout the ME, Central Asia & India region.
