As the owner and operator of New Zealand's national electricity transmission system, Transpower holds a unique position in the energy sector. We provide the critical infrastructure and market system that connects electricity generators to major electricity users and the distribution networks that deliver electricity to homes and businesses. Transpower has more than $5 billion in assets that run the length and breadth of the country. Our people operate the electricity market system in real time, via our National Control Centres, and manage the operation of our infrastructure from our two National Grid Operating Centres. The Opportunity As a member of the Talent and Capability team at Transpower, you will be responsible for enabling leaders and managers to be outstanding in their people management - getting the best out of their teams and creating a culture and environment that great people want to be part of. You'll work closely with the Executive GM of People, Head of Talent and Capability, HR Business Partners and the broader HR Team, to plan, develop and implement contemporary organisation and learning and development programmes and initiatives that ensure Transpower has the talent and capabilities required to achieve its strategic goals and objectives. Our workforce comprises technical, engineering, ICT, and corporate employees, who all care deeply about enabling the energy future for New Zealand. You will be responsible for;
  • Transpower's internal non-technical training programmes including the leadership and management development programmes,
  • contributing to the diversity, inclusion and belonging programme of initiatives
  • developing and implementing programmes that drive a high-performance culture.
Transpower is funded in five-year regulatory control periods so there is a well-defined pipeline of work - and we need outstanding people to deliver it. Key to this is the exchange of transparent, collaborative, and cohesive communication within the wider People team to ensure we build our capability and operate in a seamless fashion to deliver exceptional service which enables our business. What will you bring? Energy, credibility, and outstanding verbal and written communication skills underpinned by a tertiary degree in HR or a related field such as Psychology. You'll have 5 or more years' experience in an organisational learning and development or capability focused HR Senior Advisory/Business Partner role in a large ideally commercial organisation, and experience with learning management systems (e.g. Cornerstone). Your CV and cover letter will demonstrate:
  • Demonstrable experience designing, developing, or sourcing and implementing organisational development and learning and development programmes, initiatives, and tools.
  • A sound understanding of scalable organisational development models and practices.
  • Strong critical and analytical thinking skills and the ability to influence and manage multiple demands from a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, and ability to confidently facilitate workshops.
  • A track record of delivering great outcomes and programmes of work at pace coupled with interest in the future of Organisational Development and improving employee experience.
