Youth Engagement Officer - Youth Climate Action Project PYLI The Peace & Justice Network (PJN) Pakistan is one of the largest and fastest growing national not for profit grassroots justice network registered under Section 42 SECP working across Pakistan for enhancing community legal empowerment, youth development and climate justice to foster peace and sustainable development. With its commitment to leaving no one behind, PJN's institutional framework guarantees non-discrimination and equality for all, with a particular focus on women, children, religious and ethnic minorities, internally displaced and refugees, transgender, and people with special needs. PJN Pakistan has initiated a two years Pakistan Youth Leadership Initiative (PYLI) Project in partnership with the British Council for Youth Climate Action for Grassroots Communities in Lahore, Faisalabad and Sheikhupura. Youth Led Climate Actions (YLCAs) are a core feature of this project. YLA typically involves a group of 5-10 young people who plan a community project and implement using improved social responsibility and leadership skills on one of the climate actions described in the table below.
- Tree Plantation and Forestry
- Water conservation
- Solid waste management
- Climate education in higher secondary schools and colleges
- Identify youth participants according to the role profile shared by the British Council through different recruitment strategies.
- Develop, design and implement a Youth mobilization plan to engage youth leaders to take part in the project
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to identify potential partners and opportunities for collaboration on Climate Justice and Climate Change Priorities.
- Foster strategic partnerships and collaborations with government bodies, Civil Society Partners, other NGOs, international organizations, and local community stakeholders to enhance project delivery and impact.
- Enhance the visibility of the PYLI project through developing effective communication strategy, including but not limited to social media, press releases, and newsletters.
- Develop linkages and collaborations with the local media by developing and implementing an effective communications and media plan for the project
- Assist Project manager in development of a clear work plan for PYLI project implementation.
- Support the Project manager in ensuring projects adhere to frameworks and all documentation is maintained appropriately for each project strand.
- Support district coordinators in implementing training calendars and other events.
- Capture success stories and lessons learned during implementation.
- Support MEL and Reporting Officer in preparing monthly and quarterly reports
- Bachelor degree in business or related field of study.
- Three years’ experience in development sector preferably in Education.
- Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience using computers for a variety of tasks.
- Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Knowledge files management, transcription, and other administrative procedures.
- Ability to work on tight deadlines.
- The incumbent should be familiar with basic concept of youth engagement/social mobilization; should have demonstrated willingness to learn and work with youth and community members for sustainable development; should be able to spend extended periods with communities. The incumbent should also have excellent oratory skills in local language. Knowledge of English language will be an advantage.
