Groundfix is a national award-winning specialist civil and geotechnical contracting firm who are renowned for high quality work and technical expertise. We are looking for a Site Engineer with experience in geotechnical and civil construction. Purpose of the role: • Review project drawings, specifications and ITP’s, ensuring all site works are completed in order with these documents. • Complete on-site testing to ensure compliance with the drawings and specifications. • Manage the day-to-day health and safety and operations of individual projects/sites – sometimes multiple sites at a time. • Programming site activities, sourcing materials and equipment. • Undertake site-based Risk Assessments. Prevent any unsafe work activities/practices. Make sure staff are competent to undertake any activities they are requested to perform. • Adhere to all company policies and objectives. • Oversee training of staff. • Ensure H&S, Quality and Environmental adherence. • Ensure sites always operate in a safe manner. • Maintain general compliance within company policies and procedures. • Maintain job performance and profitability. • Maintain client relationships. Position requirements: • Valid NZ full driver’s license. • New Zealand Residency or valid work visa. • Degree or tertiary qualification and minimum 2 years’ experience (or minimum 7 years’ experience without qualification) in the civil or commercial construction industry. • Ability to understand construction drawings and programs. • Computer and numerical literacy – word, excel. • Ability to travel and stay away within NZ • Hands on and practical approach • Capable of being a leader and taking the initiative. • Basic ability to set out works. • Demonstrate good understanding of Health and Safety requirements relating to Construction activities. • Good communicator. • Proficient in writing method statements, undertaking Risk Assessments, record keeping and reports. • Strong organisational and planning capability with high attention to detail. • Professional approach. Preferred : • Experience in ground anchoring, soil nailing, rock bolting or micro piling • Geotechnical or Civil Engineering qualification. • Knowledge of geotechnical contracting activities. • Contractual and Commercial understanding. • Sub-Contractor management.
