Enterprise/Data/Solution Architects The Office of the Controller and Auditor-General is partway through a five-year programme of work to upgrade and replace the Office's technology, bringing us more into line with the technologies used by other organisations and equipping staff with the tools they need to work well now and into the future. For this programme, we're seeking to build a team of fixed-term employees or contractors. Although we'll be directly approaching government recruitment providers and consultancies, CVs meeting the criteria below are welcome from suppliers on the All-of-Government Talent Acquisition Panel or consultancies on the Department of Internal Affairs MarketPlace. The initial contract term for these positions is 12 months, and the hourly rate will be capped at $155 an hour (including supplier mark-ups). Cost will be a consideration in our selection process. We're looking for architects with the proven ability to identify, develop, and implement various artefacts (including documents, processes, policies, and software) to help us meet our target of a Cloud-only environment. To succeed in this role, you'll need:
  • at least 10 years' experience as an Enterprise/Data Architect, with recent experience in establishing Cloud-based services;
  • experience with transitioning at least two other organisations from on-premise to Azure Cloud-based environments;
  • proven experience in developing a strong understanding of organisations' needs (including drivers, strategies, trends, and key relationships) and applying your knowledge to Cloud-based services;
  • experience developing and maintaining enterprise architectures and architectural roadmaps;
  • experience building relationships with senior stakeholders (such as leadership teams and governance groups), with the ability to present and discuss architecture artefacts in non-technical language; and
  • experience working in small teams, building relationships with programme team members, and working on projects as both an advisor and a team member.
Data Architecture candidates will also need to demonstrate experience in:
  • defining and documenting SOPs for data management, in line with best practice and reference architectures;
  • prototyping data management artefact repositories (such as data dictionaries), as prioritised by a data management roadmap;
  • working with Information Architects to model and pipeline enterprise data; and
  • supporting Data Engineers and Data Domain Stewards to present data by modelling and documenting domain-oriented and subject-oriented data products.
You'll be involved in work including, but not limited, to:
  • future state architectures and transition states;
  • defining and implementing architectural standards for the Cloud, including Zero Trust;
  • reviewing vendor architecture and design artefacts;
  • managing vendor contracts for architectural services;
  • giving presentations and briefings to steering groups, governance committees, and senior stakeholders; and
  • producing project artefacts as required.
