What will you do

You will provide broad-based legal support to Amgen SEA’s commercial, medical, value, access and pricing (VA&P), Compliance and other business functions, including providing advice to country leadership teams. This role may also extend to potential involvement in regional and global projects. You will assist to deliver a legal support model in SEA that is results-oriented, fully aligned with the goals and priorities of the business, sustainably lean and strategic about enhancing the attorney’s overall impact as a legal expert and a leader.  You will take a broad approach to managing legal risk at the affiliate, facilitating day-to-day contracting and routine matters through implementation of templates, training programs and guidance while delivering targeted legal advice as required. As a legal expert in a dynamic regulatory environment, this attorney is expected to monitor the external environment and ensure that Amgen’s legal risks are proactively managed.  You will report to the SEA Head of Law in Hong Kong and join a JAPAC regional Law Group of 8 other lawyers based in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Sydney, Taipei and Tokyo. In 2019 and 2023, the JAPAC Law Group was recognized by The Legal 500 GC Power List Hong Kong as one of the very best in-house legal teams in the region for its innovation, quality and excellence.  Win What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

Law degree from recognized university law faculty and qualified to practice law in a common law jurisdiction; 6+ years of practice at a top law firm, corporate law department, or a combination of both; Fluency in English required; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Contract drafting skills and knowledge of general commercial law, labor law and dispute resolution; Strong interpersonal skills, judgment, maturity and flexibility; Strategic thinker and creative problem-solver who is committed to ensuring the company’s success in a complaint manner;  Ability to manage competing priorities and provide high level of services across multiple stakeholders; and Ability to operate both independently and as part of a larger in-house legal team

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in the laws and regulations related to the promotion and sales of biopharmaceutical products in ASEAN countries; Experience as attorney working in a legal department of a multi-national company in the biopharmaceuticals (ideally) or healthcare sector (otherwise); Experience with relevant regulations and industry codes of conduct (e.g., PhAMA, SAPI, HKAPI); Experience with distributor management, business development and licensing in biopharmaceutical or healthcare sector in ASEAN countries; General understanding of privacy laws, healthcare regulatory matters, anti-corruption laws, and intellectual property; and Management of outside counsel engagements and department budgets.
