The Intelligent Debt Management (IDM) Group, South Africas largest and multi-award-winning debt management company, has a position available for an *Enterprise **IT Engineer*.

The Enterprise IT Engineer role is responsible for providing high level technical expertise to deploy, support, manage and maintain the business technology infrastructure landscape. This role, under the tactical and technical direction of the IT Infrastructure Manager, has a project delivery component as well as a high-level support component. This includes connectivity, physical/virtual server/storage, co-location, private cloud and public cloud with a security-based approach.

*RESPONSIBILITIES:*

  • Enablement of business operations via the ongoing dedication to business system uptime, performance and security.
  • Work to maximise production uptime and reduce risk/wastage, through effective security-orientated cycle of continuous service improvement across the scope of Enterprise IT deliverables.
  • Azure infrastructure best practise alignment, deployment, management and support. Work to consolidate/reduce wastage and reduce risk - whilst providing options for better results for business productivity.
  • Hypervisor/VMWare management and support underpinned by physical server management and support.
  • Be responsible for securely managing co-location, private cloud, public cloud and on-prem inter-connected eco system that makes up the business technology landscape.
  • Enterprise IT escalation point for the Senior Support Engineers in the IT Operations team primarily Priority 1 incidents and/or ongoing problems requiring root cause resolution, or as directed by the IT Infrastructure Manager.
  • Ongoing use of monitoring tools to make informed decisions.
  • Identification, reporting and recommendations/resolutions of risk items discovered within the scope of Enterprise IT technology management.
  • Change management participation and execution of production changes predominantly outside of business production hours.
  • Ownership of assigned problems from beginning to end via problem management & root cause resolution (escalated and self-logged for further prevention of incidents) directly or via 3rd party collaboration through to completion.
  • Server, compute, and storage capacity and performance management. Work to identify underlying system constraints and provide recommendations to the various IT teams/key business stakeholders to execute via change management process directly or via 3rd party liaising ownership.
  • Create and maintain IT infrastructure systems diagrams, documentation and processes as required. This includes regular reports.
  • Planning and allocating time for projects and support as required. Consultation with business stakeholders as required.
  • Work within the ITIL-based methodology of problem, change, request and incidents.
  • Own & drive problem/change/incident escalation to vendors, suppliers, and partners unto completion, as required.

*EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION*

  • Minimum 7+ experience in Physical server/storage, VMWare/Hypervisor, Microsoft Server, AD and Azure support and technical ownership - including underlying network layers and security fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated capability for technology infrastructure and security fundamentals well grasped and applied, resulting in effective and secure business production uptime.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain relevant with the advent of ever-changing technology landscape and respective methodologies and topologies.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in IT consultation and project ownership.

  • Physical Dell server and storage
  • VMWare / vSAN including respective virtual server guests
  • Windows Server / AD / 365 / Mimecast
  • Azure: Private end point networks / subnet routing / Entra ID / Virtual appliances / WebApps / Storage accounts / Backup and recovery / etc.

*WORKING ENVIRONMENT*

  • This role is part of the Enterprise IT team, within the IT department. Business production hours are 07h00 to 21h00 weekdays, and Saturdays half-day. Enterprise IT typically executes changes outside of these production hours. Enterprise IT is not required to support these prod hours directly however escalation management does rope us in periodically, regardless of hours.
  • Flexible time and hybrid work based on workloads of the Enterprise IT team, shaped by the respective needs of the business, projects, changes, escalations.
  • Hybrid work but must be based in Cape Town. Scheduled remote work in between collaboration sessions.
  • Perform duties and apply expertise across on-prem, private cloud and public cloud data environments.
  • Engaging with internal stakeholders, cross-team interactions with business and technical resources including 3rd parties in some cases.
  • Overtime may be needed to meet deadlines or as required by project rollouts and change control etc.
