The role

Do you have a critical eye for detail, creative nous for design and delivery, and the ability to tell stories which resonate with a wide variety of people? As a communications advisor, you’ll be tasked with increasing awareness and understanding of Horizons Regional Council and our activities through communications planning, management and advice – all with a strong focus on engaging our communities on key priority projects.  This 12-month full time maternity leave cover, based in Palmerston North, with be focused on creating communications plans and material, developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships, assisting with production and maintenance of social media channels, and other public relations practices. 

About you 

You will have a commitment to working across our organisation to deliver quality communications and engagement to the executive team, staff and our communities. This includes taking part in proactive and creative communications campaigns which reflect Horizons’ vision and community outcomes. You must be able to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve practical outcomes.  The successful applicant will have a strong understanding of how to prepare, produce and display public relations material, including for digital channels. To be considered for this role you will be expected to have experience in, or clearly demonstrate a capacity to learn, communications, public relations or marketing, and proven examples of delivering creative solutions in various environments.
